Good set, works w/ mechanical pencils
Like it! But refillable lead is a pain, dulls quickly, breaks, must keep unscrewing to advance lead. Fortunately the Pencil holder attaches to larger compass and a slim mech. Pencil fits great, as shown in pic—that means advancing lead from end of pencil, no unscrewing, less interruption in drawing. For small compass w/ thick refillable lead, the sharpener is handy. Well worth the price, good quality!

Not a pretty picture, but neither was my first experience without any instructions.
What you see is my attempt to use my Mr. Pen set. I was looking forward to this set because I wanted to start working with mandalas. My only experience was high school geometry and that was limited to the usual cheap compass that came in a school supply set. The cute little mustache print and thank you included did not make up for the lack of instructions. It does say a professional set, so maybe I should have looked for a beginner set to learn the mechanics. I attempted on my own, but there were pieces included I simply didn't have a clue about. Again, I'm not a professional with a compass. I can't tell you how many times I had to chase that small screw when it flew off its pin. (I'm left handed and sometimes get righty-lefty backwards.) That pin is tiny. Be careful you don't lose it, or the screw head. I didn't understand the extender at all, so I turned to online videos. Mr. Pen does have a video, but it moves quickly. His hands are in the way sometimes. Not all the things in my box were addressed, so I still don't know what one thing is. I did manage to see enough on the video to figure out the extender. After I removed it, I realized the pen/pencil will slide back and forth on the extender to make different size circles along with screwing the compass wider or more narrow. I'm sure that will be a nice feature after I become more adept. While I was chasing those tiny screws, I saw the random marks on my paper you can see in the photo. I was trying to fit the pencil holder on the smaller compass to no avail. However, in that process, I noticed I made more marks. Well, what do you know? I discovered there's lead on one side for both compasses, you don't actually need a pencil unless you are doing the really big circles from the extender. Again, it could be my lack of experience, but some simple written instructions and photo showing parts would have been helpful and less frustrating. As it is advertised as a professional set, I don't have anything critical to say. I'm a professional artist, not architect. I'm imagine that made a difference in my experience. It seems sturdy enough, especially for how I will be using it. Eventually, I did figure most of the bits and pieces out. One thing included is supposed to be a screwdriver (from the video), but it looks like it has a blade and you need a tiny screw drive to turn it. I thought it was some sort of sharpener until I watched the video. I will have to watch again to figure out where and how to use it. The other thing I am clueless about. I can't tell you what it is because I don't have a name for it. It wasn't addressed in the video. It appears to attach somewhere to something. I'm sure, eventually, I will get it figured out. My experience with the set, may not be typical, but if you are a beginner using such tools as I am, I hope this review will give you advance idea of what you may be up against while setting it all up. As to the photo. I used a not so great photo because I thought it would give you an idea of the sizes you can make. You will see the random marks I referenced in my review. I just used a sheet of practice pad to make the circles. As I use my rulers for artwork, they are clear. I knew nothing would show up in the photo. What you see is a seam measure for sewing, but it has inches and metric on it. I made as small a circle as I could with the smaller compass and then as large as I could. The arcs off to the right side were made with larger compass, the extender and a pencil. I did not have the larger compass extended as far as it would go, but I did have the pencil extender at full length. I didn't have large enough paper at hand to complete the biggest circle, but you can get an idea of how large a circle this set can make. You can go from 1/2 inch diameter up to very large dinner plate sized circles that might be good for murals, signs etc. Again, I think this set will be good for my purpose after I get better at using it, but instructions would have been so helpful.

Excellent, Solid, Precise.....
1. Was concerned when I read some reviews that said some screws were stripped. Actually they are NOT stripped, but free wheeling. In order to tighten, place a finger on the UNDERSIDE of the screw when tightening. Problem solved 2. I was concerned when I read that the protractor "wobbled" when the extension was attached. Only if it is NOT fully inserted into the slot and SECURED by the screw, If the screw is not secured by the above method, then it will wobble, otherwise NO problem. Works like a charm! 3. Only complaint is NOT enough information provided by the supplier. The "cute" included mustache isn't so cute when you have to solve the problems yourself and the "cute" video FAILS !

Great features, solid and awesome customer service
Update: I contacted the seller and his response was super fast and sorted out the problem right away. We now have a compass that works well and that one must have been a one off one that has a problem. My son loves it and the feature where you push both bottoms to expand it quickly is super useful when he is doing his geometry homework. That way, he doesn’t have waste time using the small dial to expand the leg or reduce the size. ————- (Old review) I was excited to get this for my son for his Geometry class. So was he. All are great such as refills, extra screws, the little metal plate as a screw driver to tighten the screw for the leg that bends, additional leg to draw a big circle (although this isn't necessary for his class), but one slight oversight which is annoying to use is the screw that tightens the legs from bending. The screw head is so shallow, I cannot tighten it before threading the screw. Needless to say that I cannot tighten it. So, when my son uses it, it kept bending when he's putting his point down on the paper firmly so that the compass won't slip off. I told him to grab the bottom part of the leg while he is pushing down on it. Contemplating on returning it and see if we can get the proper one to tighten the legs. But the inconvenience of it... sigh... If they could just replace the screw (if that screw can be replaced), that would be perfect. All other features function fine and would have been a great compass with 5 stars.

Unfortunate Buy (Updated)
*Edit* I would like to first say that the customer service is the best I’ve dealt with. The company does take great pride in their products and are not just sending cheaply made junk. If there’s a problem then they want to know and want to fix it. I hope the issues are addressed and I would definitely purchase from them again. I think I would avoid compasses that have plastic parts that are important components though. I knew at this price that it wouldn’t be made from the best materials or have precise, German like engineering. I was certain that it wouldn’t last for years or even a year at best. At the moment I couldn’t really budget in a high dollar compass so I decided on this one. I bought this around July 8th of 2022 and had immediate regrets. As shown in my video… the inserts that hold the thumbscrew are really loose. The thumbscrew is also loose at certain lengths which has to be adjusted regularly. I say regularly like I’ve had it for awhile but it’s been less than one month. It didn’t slowly start getting loose… it came loose and has progressively gotten worse. It probably wouldn’t be too bad if it wasn’t a precision instrument. Well it is a precision instrument and that means loose parts are a huge problem. It isn’t all bad though. The small compass seems to be kinda decent and would be good for something small, really small. I haven’t used the extension arm mainly because the big compass doesn’t really need more variables to throw everything off. Everything else is pretty basic. I’m always exited when there’s a free sticker and this one came with a mustache one. While that pleases my sticker collection, it’s not enough to gloss over the loose compass. There were a couple of other inconvenience like the lead wouldn’t come out so I could sharpen it. Even after removing the screw that hold it in… I still had to get a pick to get it out. I was excited about the pen attachment because I’ve usually just taped a marker or pen to one of the arms. This was going to be a game changer for inking my drawings. While it does well for pens, it was too small for a sharpie. When I say too small… I was able to force one in it but it took some real effort and a little sandpaper on the sharpie. If only the compass was this tight. There is also a plastic screw on the bottom of the attachment to angle the pen for some reason and it’s awkward to get to. It doesn’t really matter because it’s loose too which makes the compass even more inaccurate. Overall it’s just an unfortunate buy. I had relatively modest expectations but was disappointed when I realized I would have to make constant adjustments and still not get the precision I get from a cheap, flat style compass like I used when I was in school.

Buy it. If you need a compass, buy this one.
This thing is way beyond what I expected! I needed a compass that made a10" circle for a mask pattern I wanted to try. The first one I bought, the description said 9". Not really what I was looking for, but I also didn't want to pay a lot, as I might use it once, not like the pattern, and never use it again The description said 9", the packaging said 8", and it only open enough to make a 7" circle. I contacted the seller, as they asked in the packaging. They immediately refunded my money. But I still needed a compass. I found one that said it made a 10" circle and had a video. It was from the same company as the one I'd just had refunded, so I felt safe giving them another shot. Wow. This thing. I'm not a professional... anything, but this compass is definitely professional quality. It's got some actual heft to it. It is just way beyond what I was expecting. Plus, it cost less than the others that claimed to be what I was looking for. I would recommend this to anyone who needed a compass, large or small. And you can't beat the customer service!!

Simple to use with some experimentation of the various attachments.
Inexpensive compas that can be used as a beam compass with an attachment arm. Some metal and sturdy enough for lots of years of use I use it for application of oil paint
