Not new to pipes, but I wanted a cheap vauen for a work or going out pipe. I don't think vauen is as appreciated as they should be. Excellent pipes. Can be used with the filter or not. Plus the resin they coat the bowl in so there's no break in required.This particular pipe is average size, not huge, not small. You can definitely get a solid 1.5 to 2 hour smoke out of this with the right tobacco and pack, but even loaded half it smokes great. I'm a fan of these filters personally, I don't notice any extra resistance or lack of flavor. Pipe is light enough to clench but a little too heavy to clench for the whole smoke. These do get a little hot for the first few bowls till you start to build the cake, so be careful not to get it too hot at first. After I get the cake built up, I'm certain this will smoke as well as my other, significantly more expensive, vauen. Plus this pipe certainly looks much more expensive then the price tag would suggest. Smoked my first bowl out of it right down to leave almost no dottle, just a fine layer of ash. First smoke on this was at work and my coworker said he'd believe it was twice as expensive as it was just looking at it. It's gorgeous. I will be enjoying this pipe for many years to come.

As a first time pipe smoker, these vauen kits are really cool. Gets you started with a premium pipe and accessories. My only complaint is this particular pipe is pretty heavy. Clinching it takes some effort and actually hurts my teeth. I like the way it smokes, i just dont clinch it any more. I would recommend going with a Peterson or a Savinelli as those are generally lighter.

Missing tamper. Product looks nice otherwise. It’s a little smaller than I expected, but will do okay as a gift to a first time user.

Love this little pipe but I noticed right where the von is printed on it there is a crack from the end of the wood almost to the end little worried but it works good
