Worked great from an old Mac LC III
Plugged this into an old Mac LC III, and was able to transfer the files I was recovering over to a PC. It did not work at 115200 baud (but that may have been a short coming of the Mac serial); but worked OK at 9600. Other baud rates may have worked but that was the second speed I tried. I was surprised by the shipping, but it arrived sooner than expected.

Works as a Serial Cable for Sun IPX Computer
This cable works as a serial cable for Sun Sparcstation "lunchbox" style computers with a Din-8 serial port. You only need this cable and an RS232 DB9 to USB adapter.Normally you would need a Din-8 to DB25 adapter, then a DB25 to DB9 null modem adapter, then the RS232 to USB adapter. This cable gets rid of all that mess.

Works perfectly for connecting an ImageWriter to a more modern computer
Used this and a Keyspan USB -> serial adapter to connect an ImageWriter II to a Mac running OS9, everything works perfectly, and I couldn't be more pleased. Extremely happy that cables like this are still being manufactured.

Great for RS422 to RS232!
Does EXACTLY what I wanted it to do! I looked at the pinout, and this is definitely a perfect RS422 to RS232 cable. Works with my USB to serial port adapter and can send serial data to my old Macintosh which uses RS422.

Completely useless to me
Pin out is wrong for what I need. So I cut it up to put a new DB9 on it, Unfortunately its only a 5 wire cable and a shield, needed 8 wire. Completely useless to me. Had to strip off completely the Mini Din connector and solder a CAT5 to it.

Old School Pool Ball Trackball Cable
Pool Ball crushes mouse, mouse bleeds on paper that does not belong on TrackballA disappeared windows pointer driver. Does it run on a Kensington mouse driver. Maybe 8 pin mini din to mouse will reinvigorate a non chosen superior device. For the function of Manually Operated User Selection Equipment.

Pin arrangements perfect for Mac Classic and Windows XP
I thought it was a long-shot when I ordered it but it proved to be perfect 19200 baud communication between my Mac Classic and my Windows XP, Dell Dimension 4600 computer.
