Why wouldn't you do this?
If you have a smidgen of do-it-yourself in you, you will want to do this. For $7 for a toner refill (a separate purchase), with a time investment of about 15 minutes, you can save at least $40-50 and get print copy which is indistinguishable from the OEM cartridge by a simple modification of the "starter" cartridge which was provided with your printer.The instructions, with pictures, were clear and precise. Doing this is a no-brainer.

Successful install
I followed the instructions on Youtube by InkOwl. InkOwl has some pretty good instructions videos on Youtube. No problems installing.Still don't know why this is needed, though. What would happen if I just refilled the starter cartridge with toner without installing this flag gear?

Worth the money. Followed the instructions as presented on the provided sheet. It looks to me like this kit will work on the original cartridge.
