Great supplement to agility class.
This little book is packed with good information. I'm fairly new to the agility sport (7 months with 1 dog, and 1 month with the other) and even though the classes I take are informative and great practice I wanted more info. I found it with this book! It tackles each piece of equipment on its own and then helps you put them all together as well as instructing you on the right body language to get the best from your dog. Towards the back, it has recommended mini practice course to try out. Love it!Also, there are plans for making your own equipment: jumps, stay table, and contact trainer. Just this past weekend I made all three. I have to stay, I am not much of a do-it-yourself type but agility equipment is spendy. These plans were easy to follow, especially the jumps, and were very detailed. I won't lie, the table and contact trainer take some effort but it's more time consuming than hard. If anything, buy this for the plans. I know trainers say you can train "spot" for contact equipment by using a step or street curb but I wasn't having much luck. Already, the first day using the equipment, both my agility Aussies show improvement on "spot"!

Great Book
This book is not only great for starting agility but it's also good for training in general. I have always enjoyed training my dogs but I've been able to take it to another level using some of the techniques and guidelines laid out by Leach. The layout and photos look nice and it's enjoyable to read. There is really a lot of preliminary training required though, so if you haven't done much training with your dog or you have a puppy, you will quickly realize that you have your work cut out for you. I had anticipated jumping into the actual agility training but it seems that several months of preparation are in order. All in all a great tool for training your companion, whether they end up being an agility trial runner or just a well-behaved dog.

Helpful.
Book is informative. Only complaint is that it spends about 1/3 of the book talking about choosing the dog etc. I bought it for the dog I have. But a good buy overall. I’m just looking to entertain my dog.

One of the Best Training Books for Dogs I've ever seen. Joan Bailey, author of "How to Help Gun Dogs Trainselves."
This book is so well done, making it easy for any owner to train their dog for Agility. In doing this much is accomplished. First there is the basic training so that one has a dog that is pleasant to live with for all family members. From there the book takes the dog owner through every step of the way. The books is extremely well illustrated, which helps in understanding how to train the dog. The layout of the book is another important component, done very well. I like the general idea of agility for dogs because dogs love to have a job. This is one way to do that if you don't have a dog like an Seeing Eye Dog, or a working Herding dog, of a Gun Dog.

Great, helpful, and well organized
We love this book! This has given my dog and me some wonderful drills to improve our agility game before we move onto an intermediate’s class. The information is very well organized and is clear and easy to understand. I’ve found that it follows what we’re learning in class and throws in a few additional ideas for when we’re practicing on our own. I’d recommend this book over the other books on dog agility that I own.

You don't have to want to compete for this to be of benefit
I don't necessarily want to compete with my dog, but this give a great start from which to start. I am just looking at a possible new, additional way to focus her to my instruction, a new way to play and a new physical activity to wear her out without necessarily going to the dog park. This fits the bill!

Great book for the basics
Great book for the basics, and good training in general. Bought this with Cesar Milans but already new about 60% of this stuff as not I do not train with food motivation as the primary motivator, prefer toy and positive reinforcement as then the dog is a not neurotic. Love this book
Love this book. Concise and informative. Lots of helpful tips which as a beginner I desperately need. I just wanted to get to try for fun with new standard poodle pup. Great stimulus for her and for keeping me in shape. Keeping up is the real issue 😊 As an avid reader I would highly recommend this book. Also like it has instructions and tips for building own agility equipment. Loved the price point as well.

Best Agility Book
Best agility book I've read, full details from choosing an agility dog, training, equipments etc. it's an American book but doesn't matter one bit, it's all about the dog, the handler and everything you need to know. Can't put in down!
