Williams Racing - 5L - Heavy Duty Non-Acidic Wheel Cleaner - Includes Long Hose Trigger - For Home or Professional Use - Easy to Use

This wheel cleaner has impressed me so much it has driven me to write my first Amazon review. I have been using Wonder Wheels Colour Active cleaner for a while now, but at £6-7 a bottle I wanted to try something more budget conscious, and I came across this 5L cleaner at such a great price, I HAD to try it. I followed the instructions - applied to cool wheels, left to dwell for 5 minutes, and unlike the Wonder Wheels ive been using previously, |I did not need to agitate the dirt, I simply jet washed the wheels and 2 weeks worth of road grime and salt just disappeared. I applied using a £6 Spear & Jackson pump sprayer (pictured, also ordered via amazon prime) and I cannot be happier with the simplicity and effectiveness of this wheel cleaner. I have 2 piece split rims on my car (BBS Audi Speedlines) that were suffering from black streaks emerging from between the barrel and face of 3/4 wheels. I had considered using a polishing compound, but was fed up that such an expensive cleaner, the Wonder Wheels, could not shift them at all even with a detailing brush. This Williams cleaner has removed every black streak without me even lifting a finger beyond spraying it on, and rinsing it off. Dont hesitate and go for more expensive cleaners, this stuff is absolutely incredible and is worth double the price in my eyes. Absolute top class product and ill be sure to stock up whilst its so cheap.

Reviewed Oct 2022: I'm not one to clean cars, its usually a quarterly trip to the car wash, thats it. But I put my 1 series up for sale, and needed to tart her up a bit to make her presentable. Trip to the car wash, the wheels were still filthy, so I tried some scrubbing with some household detergent, but it was really hard going, I destroyed my newly bought (cheap) wheel brush before I'd finished one wheel, so looked into some options. This seemed to be very good value for the amount (I figured I would consider doing the other car also), and it was well reviewed. Sprayed all 4 wheels, when back to the first one with a brush and it was certainly an improvement. The trick to using this stuff properly is not to spray all 4 wheels, but spray one and then clean it down while the cleaner is still on it. Basically it does not magically lift up the dirt, but combined with some scrubbing it makes all the difference. As we are currently in a hosepipe ban, I had a watering can full of water, and it was a case of applying the cleaner, scrub, rinse and repeat. I should emphasise that I was trying to clean off several years worth of dirt and brake dust, it was pretty engrained. The wheels really did clean up well, and the spray applicator worked to make the overall application easier.

In short it seems good, a lot nicer to use than the toxic strong smelling acid stuff I had before .. I’m using it on BMW combination black & silver diamond cut wheels.. I’ve just ordered a pump-up garden sprayer to save me lots of trigger squeezing and so I have a longer reach to help reach the back of the wheels, as a few people have commented the trigger system that came with the cleaner doesn’t look that robust. I’m also using a proper small stiff wheel brush around the nuts, a long soft brush and a cloth to clean and then a small towel to polish at the end. A small trolley jack helps to just lift each wheel off the ground 1cm so I can spin them otherwise the brakes stop me from cleaning half the wheel..could move the car but it’s hard to judge. I watched a professional car detailer clean wheels using the method above.. no surprises..if you want to keep wheels looking new you need to put in the time.. maybe not every time you clean the car but fairly regularly. I was lazy with my last car and eventually the wheels had ingrained discolouration that no product would remove.. hopefully learnt my lesson!

Does miracles! The spray mechanism did not work, so, I had to use an empty bottle from another product. But the cleaning liquid is so strong, unbelievable! I sprayed the alloy wheels, waited for 5 minutes, then jet washed them. They were so clean afterwards, almost like brand new, only the rusty bits wouldn't come out, but all the dirt and soot disappeared. I am extremely happy with this product, it gives me joy to wash my car!

There is better wheels cleaner out there i wouldn't call it heavy duty it does okay for a no acid one

I used to use Bilt Hamber which is great stuff but a little pricey, I thought I’d give this stuff a try and have found it to be just as good but for less money. It does the same job by changing colour when it’s dissolved the brake dust, which it does well. The smell isn’t the best but no worse than others and to be honest I don’t use it as aftershave so it doesn’t bother me! The spray wand works well and I find it easier than using a smaller spray bottle as you can get into the nooks and crannies and also when using smaller spray bottles you tend to need to turn them upside down some times and then you can’t spray but you don’t have this problem with this as you hold the bottle upright whilst moving the spray wand around.

Fluid works well; the spray is a disaster, had to resort to brushing the fluid on.

Still using this after god knows how long Makes my tyres look black and has lasted years. Probably need to buy another soon but won’t hesitate when I need to.
