This book is so good! It gives a good overview of neuroanatomy concepts, at a good level without overwhelming the reader. I used it for my exams and found it a helpful guide to understand course material. The only thing is, it doesn't cover hearing/auditory which I found quite an odd omission, but otherwise it is great and the illustrations are so clear.

Neuroanatomy has caused generations of students much angst. I always struggle to see why this is. This is a terrific book presenting anatomical concepts in a clear, logical, progressive manner demystifying the complexities of the subject. As a trainee I found the first edition clear, concise and accurate. As a consultant neurosurgeon I find this new edition even better and strongly recommend to medical students, clinicians and neuroscientists. The illustrations help enlighten the reader’s understanding of the neural pathways and help simplify understanding of regional brain topography. If you have any interest in the subject this book is a MUST BUY.

I have been teaching Neuroanatomy to medical students for the past 8 years, and the previous edition of this book has always been my recommended text book. This new edition offers a significant upgrade of an already good Neuroanatomy text-book. It manages to explain the intricate details of Neuroanatomy in a simple and clear way. The revised drawings are an excellent way to provide a pictorial summary of the important concepts. The added clinical scenarios and clinical syndromes are a bonus that students will also find useful during their clinical years. In addition, the self-assessment section in the eBook help students assess their level of understanding. I therefore recommend this book for students (both medical and students attending other courses of Health Sciences) who want to have a clear and basic understanding of the anatomy of the central nervous system.

Neuroanatomy – an illustrated colour text (6th edition, 2020 – AR Crossman and D Neary) Its hard to believe that it is 25 years since the first edition of this book, which is now in its 6th edition. As the preface to the first edition stated the primary audience for this book are undergraduate medical students and the combination of internationally renowned neuroanatomist (Crossman) with neurologist (Neary) has always been able to bridge the difficult gap between hard core neuroanatomy and clinical relevance. Accordingly the book is also very suitable for post-graduate students in medicine embarking on a career in the clinical neurosciences and research neuroscientists. As ever, the clear succinct text is accompanied by Ben Crossman’s beautiful illustrations which uniformly work well both in hard copy and as the eBook. I am a GP and was feeling a little rusty with my neuroanatomy knowledge. I love this book. Fabulous layout, beautifully illustrated and a concise reference book that I use often to jog my memory having graduated 18 years ago!

A very comprehensive and easy to follow neuroanatomy book. The content is written in a clear and easy to follow way, and the illustrations and photographs used are fantastic. They help understanding the topic even more. I'm teaching neuroanatomy to second year Medical students and can only recommend this textbook.
