Leviton47605-ACS J-Box Surge Protective Kit - Single AC Power Module,White/Blue

While I do have the structured wiring cabinet this item is intended to go in, it is important to note it will work in a regular J-Box as well. It comes with the metal J-Box intended to slide into the structured wiring cabinet, however you can remove this and put it in a standard box as well.Keep in mind that the outlet is larger than a standard non-protected outlet, and you will want to make sure you have enough room in the box. If you have two of these in a standard or shallow J-Box, it will be very tight.Also note that you can attach this to protect the circuit downstream as well. I ended up wiring the surge protected outlet above my structured wiring cabinet where I have a wall rack for the networking equipment. Being able to have two outlets with surge protection for the price of one was a welcomed bonus!Let me know if this review helped you!

I like it. Guess it works? Won’t know until my house gets struck by lighting I guess.Though the pic doesn’t show it, it comes powder coated entirely, even the ground point. Not a huge deal as we just grounded it to the SMC.Only thing I don’t like is it’s way too small for the knockout in the SMC. But that’s prolly an SMC issue...I do think it’s a little over priced for what you get.

This is perfect for any media outlet that won't have its own further surge protection located within it. Fits great in a standard spot for structured media cabinets, as well as flat-panel TV mount areas (where you're not going to stick a power strip).Hopefully I'll never have to test this live, but it's comforting knowing it's there.

Works well in "Leviton 49605-14E 14" Wireless Structured Media Center, Enclosure, White" as was my application.

It a exactly as described in the description but the box is way too small for the outlet and fitting 2 #12 Romex. I made it work but it was a pain. There are also no built in clamps, so you will need to buy bushings or a 3/8 clamp for the box to meet codeDo yourself a favor and get a surge outlet and a deeper metal box as your local hardware store. It’s cheaper and there will be more room to work with.

Can be mounted in any outlet box, you do not have to use the included box. Seems very good Leviton quality. Nice compression wire connections. Worked great for my alarm box power. Just what I needed.

I've installed this outlet as a primary outlet for a 60" plasma TV in my office. Unlike some of the competitor products out there, leviton's has additonal load terminals to support a load (additional outlets). I've put two standard outlets in my cabinet below as a load on this surge.This unit is sacrificial, and not able to be reset after a surge. There's a green LED on the front that indicates that the surge electronics are functioning. Once this unit is tripped by a surge, it will alarm. The alarm is silenced by a plastic screw on the faceplate that is covered by a sticker. After being tripped the green LED will be off and the outlet will continue to function as a non-surge outlet until replaced.Leviton.. can we have more colors than blue?

Its okay but nothing too fancy if for some reason there is a surge the alarm will sound and there's a little screw to bypass but once its served that purpose its garbage and can't be reset. Will need to order a new one. Would be nice if there was a push button reset. But nope. Installed and using anyways hopefully it doesn't get a surge or ill have to replace
