Can I put charcoal in these bowls put a grate on it food on grate to keep food warm ?

Is the metal ring on the bowl made out of stainless sleel?

It must be... hasn't rusted or tarnished in any way...

like the pot, what about no metal on the rim?

I asked about removing the rings because I got salt water on them and they rusted. I was told the rings were needed to keep the bowls from cracking. The little bit of rust stain hasn't hurt my bowls. I like them.

Is the metal ring necessary? Mine started rusting during brining. Can I just remove them without damaging the bowl?

Dear customer, please only season the inside of the stone bowl following the instructions. The ring is made of stainless steel and meant to reinforce the bowl, therefore we don't suggest removing the ring.
