Pros:It fits the bay in my Dell Precision M6500.Windows 7 Pro detected it properly and installed the correct drivers.The drive reads and writes as it is supposed to. So far no issues.Cons:It was stated that it was a new drive. The way it was packaged, I can't really tell if mine was new or slightly used, or maybe it was a return. It came in a plastic bag that looked like it had been opened then closed, but it didn't stay completely closed. That's the only reason it is not 5 stars.

What was sent me is not what is portrayed in the picture. It is actually a GU70N. The face plate on my old drive fit on the new one. The button for ejection of the unit is way bigger than the old one. The only reason I am giving this 3 stars is that it worked.

Got here fast! In good packing and directly replaced a defective Dell oem writer. It is more versital and definitely faster than the original writer. It is also a lot quieter. I would have purchased a second one for another Dell in my stable of laptops but alas it bit the proverbial dust in an accident that rendered it irreparable.

Description said NEW , but metal case had dents and heavy scratches in it. Plus build date of 2010.

Work as replacement drive for the original.

Easily replaced the DVD rewriter in my daughters laptop for a lot less that what the computer store wanted. A couple of screws and VOILA its done.
