Will these work with grip shifters?

I used them on bikes with a twist shifter. Being that twist shifters takes up space on the right side of handlebars.

Which direction should black/gray parts of grip face?

I honestly don't think it really matters. I think they just offer slightly different levels of grip, so you can choose whichever is more comfortable for you.

Do these come with bar end caps? Are those plastic?
