With it work with angled (cathedral) ceiling?

It will not work on an angled ceiling. If you find a way to cut a celing block with the appropriate angle to set the bottom at a 90* angle. Hope that makes sense.

Is it possible to hang bikes from the top tube instead of the wheels or seat/handlebar? I wonder if twisting the hooks 45degrees would cause issues.

That is what i did with mine. I found the seat back did not hold so well. You should also be able rotate the hooks without much issue. I have one rotated 90 degrees.

What is the width of the mounting bracket? From the picture it appears too wide for the screws on both sides to both catch the joist in the ceiling?

The brackets are 3.5” x 9.75”
