They had a slight odor when I purchased them but it went away.

They are completely reversible. They look the same on both sides.

I live with some pretty sloppy boys. Do these hold up fairly well to cleaning regularly?

Yes I think they do , they are really nice and sturdy however , I wouldn’t get them too wet very often, I’d use a damp cloth every 3 -4 days and let them dry. Now I have a 7 yr old and still have her use plastic ones , it’s easier!
