Gets the job done. Good features
Ppl at my job keep misplacing the fluke. So I got this for a backup toner. The dhcp feature is nice for when you wanna check a line that has connectivity but you don't wanna carry around a laptop JUST to see if the line is live. Haven't used the poe extensively, but it does work. The toner is insensitive, so you have to be RIGHT on the wire to find it. It's not like the fluke where you can switch between sensitivity levels. But I've used this one in a pinch and it gets the job done. Cable length tester was fairly accurate, within a few feet from my testing but I did not test this function extensively.Overall, worth it if you're a broke sysadmin/network rat like me and you need the essentials to get the job done, and you can't afford good tools. One gripe is, the buttons are easily pressed from within the case. More than once, the toner wand light was on in the case when I opened it, explaining why it's battery w dead every time I took it out. Still, love the tool. Go get one. I hope they improve this design because honestly man I love it.

Works good Thursday all information you need
Use it to measure the length of my cables, gave accurate readings, and told me where the pairs were broke, too

Great scanner reguardless of price
The tester has a graphical screen which is very easy to navigate. This tester has more features the the "yellow" units costing 8x as much. It also takes into consideration the type of cable being tested (Cat5e, Cat6, and cat6A) due to the different characteristics of the cables. I tested the cable length on a known Cat5e cable length of 90 feet using the built-in factory calibration against a "yellow" brand microscanner. This unit measured more accurately at 92.2' of length. The "yellow" unit measured a low of 94' and a high of 96' feet. It displays cable pair wiring correctly and easy to read. Port flash, mapping, pinging a device, POE, toner all worked great. POE voltage measurements measured the same as my Fluke 87. My only concern would be the built-in lithium battery. I would personally prefer regular replaceable alkaline batteries. Overall, I would recommend this unit to anyone looking for a network cable tester without spending a ton of money.

While it is charged, it works well. But it wont be charged when you want to use it
Shame it has no battery life. For the money I wasn't expecting it to feel like it was made by Fisher-Price. I don't need one of these very often so for the longest time I thought the fact it was dead every time I went to use it was just because it hadn't been used for a couple months. And once it is charged it has always worked well enough. But then...On Friday it took a couple hours to fully charge and now 4 days later on Tuesday I go to use it and it's completely dead. Every time I want to use the thing I first need to wait an hour to get a partial charge into it. It will not power on while charging so you can't use it while plugged into a battery bank to get around it's terrible battery. I wish I could throw some AA batteries or a 9V into it because at least then it would be manageable.I don't know if any of the other units at this price point are any better but I would recommend you keep shopping if you are looking at this one.
