5 stars just doesn’t seem like enough
THIS SERIES!!! Omgggggg. I know five stars just isn’t adequate.Elise is a master story teller, and she packs a lot into one book. You know how some books, you kind of see where they are leading? Yeah. This is NOT one of those books. This story evolves, shocks, and mystifies from chapter to chapter….and in no way could I see the end of book four when I began reading it. I cried, I held my breath and I agonized along with the characters about everything that happened and what will continue to unfold. It’s bound to get worse before it gets better, but how much worse will be determined in book 5, the series finale.

This definitely caught me unguarded emotionally - pulling all types of emotions possible out of me
I signed up and received an advance copy of the ebook for free in exchange for an honest review. In the first few chapters of the book, it was shocking for me to see numerous events happening consecutively. So I found them too fast and too much to handle too soon. I even wondered why Elise made a terrible thing happen to a side character (that I've already grown to love from TFTF and EE) in the beginning. It was an emotional torture! I was already thinking that it was a negative thing at that time, but then I thought that it could be her style to catch the reader's attention right from the start. From that point moving forward, everything became smooth. Finally, Elise was able to write events of Vhalla spending time with her friends from the Tower and the Golden Guard. It was a breath of fresh air to have the focus on them and not on her and Aldrik all the time. This was what was missing in Fire Falling in my opinion - there, Vhalla spent too much time with Aldrik that when Larel died, I wasn't devastated because I didn't feel that deep connection between them. I even felt that Larel was more of Vhalla's assistant than a friend and a mentor. So here in Water's Wrath, I saw that the author took her time to build and really show the relationship between Vhalla and her friends. But I'm still looking forward to her truly reuniting with Roan maybe in the last book.Because of the good narration and flow of the story, I was able to relate well to Vhalla. I really felt what she was feeling all throughout her journey. I was greatly affected and it was as if I could feel the same emotions as her when she was hurt, in grief, jealous, and longing for Aldrik. However, it's not all bad feelings. While the book made me sad at times, it also made me happy. When I got upset and was devastated, there were also situations wherein I felt elated. I did cry like a baby at one point, and that proves how good and effective the author is in pulling me in and getting the right emotions out of me.I was also relieved that both Vhalla and Aldrik showed their maturity when they learned to move forward on their own at some point. They had to learn and grow on their own without having to always depend on each other. Because of this, they were able to change and develop into better characters. Vhalla became braver, stronger and bolder than ever, and I can even say the same things for Aldrik. All in all, I totally love the flow of the story. The pacing was just right, and the element of surprise was there - most of the events were very unpredictable. I'm glad that with the answers and other clues given in this book, I was able to further build my theories and broaden my thoughts again - oh, the possibilities! So far, Water's Wrath is the best book in the series (okay, I said the same thing after reading FF, then EE, and now this). It definitely caught me unguarded emotionally - pulling all types of emotions possible out of me. It kept me really guessing and interested all throughout and it made me love all the characters (old and new) even more. There were new alliances formed and new enemies made, so I certainly can't wait for the last book to come out!*Oh, and the cover! Just take notice of Vhalla's expression and of the man next to him. I won't say who, when, how, and what was happening in that picture. There's a symbolism there and I find it really clever.

What a wonderful book review treat I have for YOU
What a wonderful book review treat I have for YOU! Let's start this off with the synopsis of Water's Wrath below:I want to start off this review by saying OH MY GOD! So much happened in this book and I can't stop reeling from it all. Of course I won't give spoilers away, but I will hint at a few things, some highlights if you will.Vhalla Yarl is fresh from her victory beside the Solaris Empire in the North. She's a character that just keeps on growing and becomes more and more intriguing with each book. A once quiet bookworm librarian, has completely transformed into a complex hero that defends an Empire that's ruled by a man she despises. Why? As the synopsis states, she is used as a puppet. The Emperor is devious in his power to pull the strings of Vhalla Yarl by exploiting her love for his oldest son Prince Aldrik, leaving her no option but to fight on his side.We left off the last book, Earth's End, with a devastating event for Vhalla. Her beloved Prince Aldrik, heir to the Solaris empire, is forced to disentangle himself from Vhalla due his father's will. And more heart-breaking, he becomes betrothed to the Princess of the North who has just suffered a crushing defeat.Vhalla begins her journey in Water's Wrath withshrouding herself in secrecy and lays low near her place of birth. She knows that she must try to obtain the axe Achel, a crystal cavern weapon that is said to be able to cut through anything--- even a soul. Only one of many weapons, Achel seems to be the only one left, according to history. The Knights of Jadar seek Vhalla in their plot to use her and the crystal weapon to obtain immense power.Vhalla's Windwalker ability is key to this plot, and we find out nobody knows truly why Windwalkers aren't tainted by the crystal weapons' magic. We are just informed that any other person will become tainted, turned into a crystal beast, and left for dead.We see lots of action and the plot progresses pretty quickly for Vhalla. Vhalla has not come out of the war in the North unscathed. She is somber and continuously tortures herself with thinking about all of the loss she's suffered---particularly the loss of Prince Aldrik. She hopes to run into him again, and she does eventually.Prince Aldrik has another change in his character. We see him at the complete end of his sanity. I can't say what makes him arrive at the end of his ropes, but I can say it's very dark and it definitely had me in my feelings. We finally see what makes him feel like the Black Sheep of the family. He holds such a burden on his shoulders because of his past, and as readers, we finally begin to understand his dark, isolated ways through Vhalla's eyes. The events of the book take a very dark turn in Water's Wrath. Important people die, a new evil arises, old friends have their bonds tested, new allies are established, and I suggest you have a klinex box near you a third of the way through the book. You will need it.The book ends with the series' biggest cliffhanger thus far, and we've definitely had some nail-biting cliffhangers in the past books so far. This one takes the cake though. We come to the end knowing EVERYTHING has just changed.Water's Wrath is a fast-pace journey filled with love, betrayal, death, and it pushes our loving cast of characters to their utmost limits. We quickly realize that resting on your laurels will quickly get you killed. And everything is not as it seems at first glance. Pick this book and this series up if you haven't yet.

Your feelings are not safe (as usual)
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review."No matter how far she ran or how many people she met, an invisible hand pulled Vhalla back to the crown prince of the Solaris Empire."Water’s Wrath follows on several weeks after the end of Earth’s End. Vhalla is on the hunt for information, and while she does learn a bit, you could say the information finds her. I don’t want to say too much for the sake of keeping the spoilers to a minimum, but you can expect a lot of travelling, new and old faces and, as indicated by the cover, for Vhalla to finally find her way to the Crystal Caverns. As is typical of Kova’s writing, this book was filled with twists. Who you thought were the Big Bad turn out to be mere pawns in a much bigger game. Water’s Wrath is when the real deal shows up, the person who’s been pulling the strings all along.Kova is great at balancing action with character development, and I grew to love all my old favourites even more, particularly Fritz, Baldair and Jax. For reasons, this book involved more of Vhalla with her friends than with Aldrik, which was both great for the story development and bad for me. I’m sorry, but I am a big Vhaldrik fangirl. Those two are meant to be together, and keeping them apart hurts them and me.Aside from her reaction to something towards the end, I was with her mentally all through the story; she is me and I am her. Actually, she is who I want to be, with her incredible maturity, intelligence and determination to improve and learn. And Aldrik. OH, ALDRIK. There is a reason I love him so much. He developed so much as a character in this book, really growing into himself and showing strength by showing his vulnerability. I had chills at the very end!As is also the norm for Kova’s writing, your feelings are not safe. Within chapters, I was crying and whimpering. However, this was just the warm-up. My emotions ranged from terror to rage to heart-swelling hope. Nothing compared, though, to the building agony I felt over the course of several chapters. While nothing will match how I felt at the end of Fire Falling, this book came pretty damn close to destroying me.I am not 100% happy with Water’s Wrath, though. Something that happened towards the end made me a little nervous about continuing the series. But I’m going to trust Kova on this, as I’m starting to learn that she always has a good reason for tearing you apart. Though it wasn’t my favourite book of the series, it was still fantastic, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the series finale, Crystal Crowned!

Water's Wrath
Air Awakens is an ebook I picked up on a whim a few months ago out of boredom and I am so happy that I did. Elise Kova is sort of magic when it comes to writing novels. She creates the most amazing characters, kills her darlings in heartwrenching scenes, and is fully capable of shocking her readers to within an inch of their life. (Seriously, there are only so many plot-twists my poor heart can take.) And, as always, she left me completely taken aback with the way she ended this novel. After all the deaths, betrayals, and revelations it's basically just gotten to the point where I'm laughing through the pain.Water's Wrath's cliffhanger wasn't as heartbreaking as the ones in Fire Falling or Earth's End ... No, instead it crushed my spirit. I don't know if I can go on because I need Crystal Crowned this very second. Seriously, which demon do I need to contact to get it? But, in all seriousness, the ending of this book gave me goosebumps in the best possible way. For an author to be able to invoke so much emotion from a reader... it is just amazing.Vhalla Yarl, our main character, is everything I want to be. She is strong, loyal, and - above all else - still kind despite the trials she has faced. Her ability to forgive, yet not forget, is possibly the thing I love the most about her. She is allowed to make mistakes, she is allowed to fall from grace, and yet every single time she rises up again to become an even stronger person. Her journey from Air Awakens to Water's Wrath has been beautiful, and I can't wait to see who she finally becomes in Crystal Crowned. It isn't just Vhalla that has grown either. Fritz, Jax, Daniel, Elecia, Baldair (I'm crying at just the mention of his name, my God), and Aldrik have all grown into such exceptionally loveable characters who have all earned themselves a permanent place in my heart (and Aldrik has a permanent place on my book boyfriends list). Each book in the Air Awakens series develops upon the events of the previous book, across character growth, world development, and the magic system, every little clue becomes clearer. I highly encourage anyone interested in amazing fantasy worlds, strong heroines, slow-build romances, and elemental magic to pick up the Air Awakens series. Each and every single book in the Air Awakens Series develops and improves upon its predecessor. With every piece of world, character, and magical development, my love for this world grows. If you love fantasy, breathtaking romance, strong heroines, and magic, then this series is something I encourage you to try. (When you buy it, though, make sure to pick up plenty of tissues.) Wow
Elisa has outdone herself yet again. She weaves a web of deception, violence, hated and greed but in the midst of that is love. This is another brilliant book in a wonderful series. I am already waiting in anticipation for the next book. However I will say that if you are looking for a complete and happy ending this is not the book series for you. But I still can be mad at the cliff hanger endings because they are so well written and the storyline is so seamlessly blended. Keep doing what you're doing Elise!
