This 5.1 system sounds great and works well with everything else in home entertainment
The system sounds great and was fairly easy to set up. It's also fairly compact while packing a big punch with sound. The volume control goes up and down in very small increments, allowing you to get the perfect volume loud or soft. Be warned, the "would you like to check the speaker connections" in setup only puts a very soft static noise through the speakers, I thought my system wasn't working at first because I was expecting something more pronounced. I also didn't see a full setup manual with it, but there's one online on the Onkyo website. I love this system, I used it to replace a 20-year old 5.1 Panasonic system that pre-dated HDMI and the new Onkyo is excellent value for the money.

Amazing value, great system!
This system is a great value!NOTE: upgrade/swap your speaker wire to 14 gauge, turn down the DB level on speakers and increase DB level on subwoofer. People are complaining that the sub is terrible when really it just needs to be adjusted as above and then it’s great. Also it’s a down firing subwoofer so it should be closer to the listener than a front firing, I think they should have just included a front firing as it’s a smaller sub, but whatever. If you don’t adjust the levels I agree it sounds super weak. I don’t think I need to add a powered sub after the adjustment.I wanted a system that was relatively inexpensive but supported 4K, Dolby vision and Dolby Atmos among other things and it does it great. *You need to change the setting to 4K “Enhanced” have the proper HDMI cable but it does work after adjusting a few settings. I have a 2019 shield tv and it works perfectly with it. 4K resolution with Dolby Vision and upscaling when lower resolution. Dolby Atmos and every other Dolby/DTS format you can think of is supported. Fantastic!

Good System and Easy to Use
The Onkyo system is a nice basic system and was easy to set up, from opening the box took just about an hour to get the speaker wires and cables installed, set up on the screen of my TV, and begin using it. I've set up systems before, so most of my install was plug and play; my wires were already run and labelled.Everything sounds good, I've not had a working subwoofer in some time, so the bass was a very nice addition to have again. It received good reviews, and I don't think you'll be disappointed with this purchase.

Great for the Price, A Good Jumping Off Point
It's a great system overall. The set up process is pretty straightforward and easy to figure out, and the included instructions are easy to understand. If you have a larger room that you're planning to set the speakers up in, I'd advise you to buy a spool of 22G speaker wire along with this since they only include 6 bundles of wire. With 2 of the bundles being 26 feet long for the rear speakers, and the remaining 4 bundles being 10 feet long for the center channel speaker, the subwoofer and the two front speakers. Also, if you buy a wall or ceiling mounting kit for these speakers be sure to get one designed for extended keyhole mounts, and keep in mind that if you're wanting to mount the center channel speaker above your TV it's wide and rectangular, unlike the other 4 speakers. It has two holes in the back for mounting, so if you bought a 5 speaker mounting kit like me, the wall mount won't fit. So be sure to buy a mount specifically designed for the center channel speaker. So overall it's a great product with deep bass, high decibel range, and great sound quality. I'm sure that it's not on par with a some of the more pricey and top tier systems, but as far as sound systems go this is a good choice for people who are looking for a significant upgrade from a simple sound bar and subwoofer and it's a great starting point for those who want to get into having a custom sound system set up.

Onkyo Dead On Arrival
Setup the entire system, connected 4 surround speakers, center speaker, and sub-woofer. Went to initial setup and performed speaker test. ABSOLUTELY NO sound coming out of any of the speakers. Re-connected every speaker several times, reran the speaker test on each speaker. NO SOUND. Connected to TV. Picture fine but NO SOUND. Recycled power several times and reset the unit to no avail. NO SOUND.After some investigation, I found Onkyo receivers have been plagued with audio issues due to faulty solder connection(s) of the Digital Sound Processor (DSP) IC and the circuit board. This is a manufacturing issue, Fixes found on YOUTUBE suggest heating the DSP IC to see if it will reflow the solder connections and resolve the audio issues. What ever happen to quality control? Selling and delivering units that do not work is just unbelievable. No way am I opening the unit and voiding the warranty.I have an old Onkyo stereo receiver that has great sound quality and still works to this day. This issues appears to be widespread across several Onkyo receivers. This is so disappointing having a unit that did not work right out of the box. Now I have to disassemble the unit and return it. I expected a lot more.

Pleasantly Surprised
My first impression was the speakers looked cheap.I personally do not like the spring loaded wire connections either.BUTAfter TONS of research and being an audiophile, I was very impressed and surprised by the sound quality of this device. The Bluetooth feature is what makes life easy. This device can run either a passive sub-woofer (A down facing one comes with this), or it can run an Active sub-woofer (look at the back panel picture for proof of this). Also, for this price range, I have not found any systems that are pushing out 150 Watts per speaker. Other systems are running at 50 to 100 watts.

You get what you pay for.
The sounds is very clear but the bass is not all that great. This system comes with a smaller subwoofer. I had a 12 inch subwoofer on my last system and this one is no where close to that type of bass. If you want clear surround sound, this will work for you. I wouldn't buy this again, but I also will not throw it out. This is a middle of the road type surround system.
