Excellent
I’m renovating a cottage and looking to trim windows, doors and baseboards following the Craftsman style. The book is well researched and thorough with illustrations and drawings. Very well presented. Just was I was looking for. Highly recommended to anyone who wishes to finish a home in the Craftsman style.

This book and a good router table...
There is not much in this book you cannot make with a good router table. It provides the missing links between the desire to recreate Arts & Crafts structures and doing so: design and dimension. But its more than that. If you are looking at this book, you probably already have the mindset that came with the whole Arts & Crafts movement, but if not, Lang does an excellent job of putting it in historical perspective in the introductory chapters on the movement itself and the key players, Stickley in particular. It wasn't just about design, but included an element of lifestyle that, as Lang offers, did not follow it on into the 20th century housing industry. You will need some basic woodworking skills to recreate these designs in practice, but nothing over the top. It is a very highly recommended resource and one should not hesitate to add it to his or her collection. Even if you simply appreciate Arts & Crafts design and don't plan to actually use the book to do specific work, you will learn enough to further your appreciation of the movement.Short of some needed proofreading for typos, it is a fantastic volume.

I had been searching for a reference like this
Just arrived today. Text is clear and legible. Book is well organized with lots of detailed drawings. Just arrived today but I expect I will like it.BUT. I bought a used book. I did not expect perfection. I did not expect it to be WET. Mold had begun forming. I know I bought the last one so I will have to live with it.

If you are working on a Craftsman-style house, you NEED this book.
If you are working on a Craftsman-style house, you NEED this book. It will help you to understand your house, and the decisions that went into it. AND it gives you dimensions to work with to help you really get a feel for "getting it right." Good drawings, really good insights. Very highly recommended. In fact, I gave my first copy to a contractor friend who builds windows and built-ins for the old homes around here. He loved it. So this is my second copy.

Excellent Reference for DIYers
If you have read "Inside the Bungalow: America's Arts and Crafts Interior" and dream of DIYing some of the things you saw in it, get this book to see the general layout of typical pieces/constructs. Remember that all that you have seen was largely, and sometimes entirely, made with hand tools. With modern power tools--and not many of them--a patient DIYer can have a blast and make things of historical interest and lasting aesthetic appeal.

Poorly published
Good base level information. The illustrations that accompany the plans are very poorly rendered. A serious editor, printer, or publisher wouldn’t have let it out of the door. Also, the binding failed on three or four pages upon first opening. Great content, horrible package.

This reference is indispensible
We own a home built in the Craftsman era, and are currently remodeling / restoring it. I have bought several books about home rehab, Craftsman furniture, etc., and was disappointed with every one of them. Then I purchased this book. The level of detail regarding moldings, for example, is incredible. The complete set of dimensions including radius data for the cove are included. Not only are all the major variants of Craftsman design illustrated and specified, the original drawings for cabinets are shown and then separate, updated drawings that conform to modern kitchen design standards are presented. Anyone who is interested in the architectural details of the Craftsman era should own this book. It is a MUST HAVE!

Abundant Architectural Details
The book is not really "shop drawings" in the strictest meaning of the term, but it is filled with design details and advice on Craftsman style interior trim and built-ins that make it a must-have for those considering such a project. I left off the 5th star only because shop drawings would include fabrication instructions to be carried out in the shop, which are not there. A better title would be "Architectural Details for Craftsman Interiors". Very worthwhile, and I recommend it for anyone detailing the interior finish drawings.
