Even better than expected
I got a similar one of these by a different company 4 years ago. It was retro cherry red and I loved it for its look and features. But the paint began to chip after 2 years and there was no way to match it.So i wanted an unpainted one that still looked sharp. By the photos, this one seemed to fit the bill. But how would it look in person? It turned out even a little better looking. The wood grain is very handsome and the black top cover it a fine contrast. How about putting it together? It was just 8 steps (some with multiple actions). Under 30 screws. Overall, not difficult. Took 2 of us about 30 minutes. The one concern i had -- no extra screws provided. If even one of the screws had gotten lost or been defective, I'd have had to contact the seller and wait days to finish the project. But fortunately, all the screws were intact and worked fine.As for the design: the x-shaped crosspieces were a nice touch that added extra sturdiness. In my last cooler when I opened the water drain much of it got into the bottom shelf. Since that shelf had a lip, the water would collect. It was teh first place on the cooler that rusted. And extra beer I stored on that shelf -- the casing got soggy and gross. I like how this cooler has the basket style bottom shelf. This holds the extra stuff, BUT also allows water from the cool drain or elsewhere to drain out from the shelf. Much better! Additionally, the cooler drain spout on this one is about half an inch longer than my former one, conveying the water away from the cooler and its bottom shelf. And it has a chain connected to the cap, so that it doesn't get lost. They think of everything! (It also sits pretty low in the cooling area so it will get most of the water out). The wheels (two of which lock) are large and operate easily. The bottle opener is large and sturdy (and stainless steel). The removable cap catcher under it is a great idea. The lid is heavy but opens easily ina couple different ways.I do recommend getting a cover for it. (Even with a cover, my last cooler like this took rain water and some debris. I actually put TWO covers on mine now).Well, I love this one. And expect it to last longer without the painted parts, and with those X-shaped cross pieces, and the draining basket style shelf.Really glad so far that I bought this particular one.

Seems to be well made overall
We just put this Permasteel patio cooler together today. (By "we," I mean my husband.) It seems well made, but we have not used it yet, so I can't comment on that aspect. The frustrating part in assembly was that one of the wheels would not go in because the hole wasn't threaded properly...my husband had to re-tap it (don't know this terminology but that's what he said he had to do). I took off one star because of that; I'd classify it as a quality control issue. Otherwise, it was pretty easy to assemble and arrived in good condition and was well packed. The first time I ordered this, it got lost in transit, but Amazon was able to get me a replacement shipped in one day. You cannot see it in the photo, but the cooler matches our outdoor furniture very well, so I like that a lot. I also bought the cover. I've had my eye on this item for about a year and finally decided to purchase it when the price went down by $25.

It’s just awesome to have.
Exactly as expected.First - it’s not a Yeti. It’s not going to keep food cold for 3 days. It’s a drink cooler. The lid doesn’t seal (there’s a small gap between the halves under the hinge) but that keeps it from molding. It also isn’t massively thick or overly insulated. I filled it with drinks, dumped a bag of ice in, and the ice was gone in ~30hrs or so. But the drinks stayed drinkable cold for a couple days.It was super easy to build, though I wish it didn’t come packed in styrofoam. There are better packaging materials that don’t make a mess. But it assembled super easy, the instructions were amazing. Some of the bolts are long, but the included Allen wrench will take a lot of turns. A ~5mm Allen bit and an electric screwdriver made super quick work of it.The drain hole in the back is super handy. When the melted ice water gets too deep inside, I roll it over to the flower pots and crack the drain and roll it down the line and water the flowers. Works great!! Also, the locking casters hold crazy tight. So tight you can’t really unlock with your toe, but I’d rather they hold firm.Build quality is really solid. My kids were watering and rolled it off patio and the whole thing crashed over. Couldn’t find a scratch. Thought they would ruin it, but it’s just fine. Super surprised but it held together perfectly!Overall, I totally recommend it. Such a great addition to our summer patio time!

Cooler Stays Cold !
We had a family gathering; filled the cooler with bags of ice with about 15+ sodas & bottled water, the next day into the evening, the drinks were still cold. I'm so glad I bought it :)But I have one complaint - As I was placing the cover over the cooler I accidentally rubbed my finger to the underside of the metal box mounted on the front of the cooler and severely caused a laceration to the tip of my middle finger down to the first knuckle. I received first aid at home, couldn't stop the bleeding for a while, and later applied liquid band-aid to help close it up.It would be a good idea to insert an edging in the cooler kits to cover the bottom of that metal box or file the edges rounded to remove the razor-sharp edges. This would definitely help prevent future injuries. Thanks!!

A great purchase
I purchased these for the fellowship building at the church where I attend. Everyone I talk to say they really like them for their durability and the features on them
