Very good start
This is pretty good, it could be misinterpreted. I originally discovered this in a cultural studies class.High school students should most definitely read this. All parents should read this.F.Y.I.: the best thing about this book is the sources cited after each chapter. This book relates a lot to current events.

Great theory
The text can be a little too self-indulgent but presents good ideas. The references can be a little outdated.Overall, I would recommend it.Yes

Great intro to theory...helps students understand the BIG concepts
This was a required text for one of my master's classes, but I'm VERY glad to have it, and I'm keeping it (that would be a first for an academic text...I get rid of them as fast as I can!) I know I will revisit this book when writing papers for other classes, as it explains big thinkers like Nietzsche and Foucault and summarizes the "isms" neatly (postcolonialism, structuralism, feminism, etc.), offering real-life examples and comparisons. Great book.

Well Written But Not Substantive
The co-authors do not even define "theory," so that was the first disappointment. They didn't write to teach, they wrote to "talk about." The book does not claim to be a pedagogical guide to theory development, but I did not get much out of it as a research methodologist.

It was okay
Required for a class. Some parts were interesting but most of it was very laborious and Wordy.
