Jonathan is an incredibly interesting fella, excellent at all he does. His books are a must for anyone looking to start or continue weaving with salix. I have two more of his weaving books and enjoy them all very much.

There is always room for improvement but all in all it’s a pretty good book. I haven’t made a basket yet but it looks pretty informative.

Ridgeon knows how to teach in an easy-to-follow way! After the first simple basket, he adds a little more complexity to each new basket (a total of nine as seen on cover). He outlines easy-to-follow steps, offers tips and hints along the way, and includes clear helpful black-and-white photos and drawings to illustrate steps. Each project has a list of required willow too, so you can gather it all before beginning. Just a few simple tools- you probably have most already in your tool box or gardening kit. I'm excited each time a finish a new basket and even more excited to try the next one.

Wonderful resource book. Clear instructions for a variety of baskets. The only reason for 4 stars not 5 was I wish the photos were more crisp. (I.e. that they had been printed with a finer dot screen.) still, the photos are useful. Great for beginners but still I think useful for those with some prior experience.

I was very impressed with this guidebook. I would recommend that you try to construct the first basket. Then, after completion, read the rest of the chapters. I learned an awful lot about what works and what does not by using that process. Three Thumbs up for this book.
