A Solid Modern Update To Air Purifying
I got rid of my old air purifier years ago and thought I wouldn't need one anymore. After a few years of allergies, I decided to see what was out there, and I picked this specific 300S model from Levoit as my choice for a NYC apartment. This is the perfect size for most rooms. It's not too overpowered or underpowered; it's just right. I chose the 'S' version because it has Smart capabilities like using it via an app, and it can also be tied to an Alexa. Secondly, it uses less energy than the original 300 version.I have mine set to automatic speed and to only turn on during waking hours. I know that this air purifier works at detecting things, because as soon as someone lights up indoors, a moment later it turns on full blast to clear the air. I think it doesn't like it when people smoke in the house, ya know what I mean? Also, it doesn't like it when we're cooking and there's smoke in the air.Overall, this item is compact, the filter is generally supposed to last six months, and it's smart enough to clean the air only when needed. I am thinking of getting another exact model or the next size up. Highly recommended.

Small, but powerful!
Due to my respiratory/allergy condition, I was searching for a smaller air purifier just for my bedroom. I wanted a product that was affordable, quiet, reasonably priced replacement filters with a good CADR value from a trusted brand. I've been using this product every day for the past month, and I can confidently say Levoit Core300 has met all my expectations!I have been running it at the highest setting before bedtime for about 15-20 minutes and switch it to sleep mode afterwards. It may sound odd, but you would immediately feel the difference in the air quality when you walk into the room after it has been well purified. My allergy symptoms are much improved during my sleep, thanks to this air purifier. You can barely hear anything when it's in sleep mode, but I'm sure some can use it as a mild white noise if you keep it near you.The setup process was effortless. This is a small unit (compared to the one in my living room) but is powerful and does the job it was intended to perform. I just placed it in the corner of my room, and it just does its job. I'm very satisfied with the product and will recommend it to those who are looking for an air purifier for small spaces.

Helps a lot with pollen allergies!
I got this because I was having allergy symptoms that prevented me from being able to sleep at night. I had read that some people had success with it and thought I'd give it a try.I sleep in a small bedroom so this is just the right size to efficiently filter the air quickly. After 2 days of using it I can say that I feel an immediate difference. I slept through the night last night for the first time in weeks. The air feels "softer" in here than outside or anywhere in the house. At first I thought it might just be a coincidence and maybe the local pollen counts are dwindling but I took my dog on a walk and could immediately feel the itching and irritation in my nasal passages. When I came back in to this room, my symptoms started to calm down and now I'm freely breathing through both nasal passages again. Well worth it.

Cost effective for small spaces/limited use
An air purifier is not a complicated device. It is a fan, and an air filter. The fan pulls air through the air filter, and catches various particles and impurities in the air. As long as you have a decent HEPA filter, and a fan that has enough velocity to circulate the room air through the filter effectively, it will work to clean the air. You can build one yourself with a box fan and some high quality furnace filters and duct tape if you have to.So what distinguishes this one from the hundreds of others out there, why is it so popular?(1) Low up front costs - this has enough power to handle a small room effectively and a true HEPA filter at a pretty low initial cost.(2) Easy to live with - the fan is very quiet except on high, and even on high it isn't obnoxiously loud. Changing the filter takes about 10 seconds and is easy to do. There is a pre-filter to catch large dust/animal hair and the like which you can vacuum to extend the life of the HEPA filter for small particles. The unit itself is not huge or ugly, so it can sit in the corner of most rooms without being objectionable.(3) Available filters - this unit's extreme popularity means that there will likely be filters available for many years.(4) It does work - I bought an air quality meter after the recent wildfire smoke episode, and it shows me that this thing does a pretty good job in small rooms. In bigger rooms it will still provide some benefit, but it is really not able to move enough air quickly enough to clean a large room.Downsides:The filters are relatively small, so they will have to be changed fairly frequently if you run the unit constantly. How frequently? I don't know, your mileage will vary depending on how many pets you have, how much wildfire smoke is in your area, etc. But I would expect to buy at least two a year if comparing this to other units that may have larger filters you need to change less often. So think about the total running costs and not just the up front cost when comparison shopping here. If you are thinking about saving money by trying to run this in a bigger room than it is designed for, don't go down that road. You do need to size your unit to the area you are trying to keep clean. A large room needs a larger unit with a bigger fan and a bigger filter. Also, all of these things are quieter if not running on high. So it is better to get a bigger unit even one that handles more than you are asking it to, and then run it slower and change the filters less often versus trying to save money up front and then driving the thing as hard as it will go to barely get any benefit.

Very quiet fan with a filter that goes the distance.
I love this air filter! I have had the same model for 2 years at my cabin. I leave it running when I'm away. It keeps the cabin from getting that musty, stale smell. I also use it as white noise for sleeping. I bought a second fan/filter for the other bedroom. The filters are readily available on Amazon in multiple filtration needs for a reasonable price. I replace them once a year. I do also vacuum off the exteriors of the filters a few times per year to get the pet hair and fuzzies off. I have a Dyson air purifier at home that was 4x the cost and the replacement filters are double the cost of the Levoit filters.
