Very easy to install with good directions. Looks great and has a solid, all metal construction.
I got this unit for a bathroom sink because I was tired of pop-up drains. I don't like installing them or cleaning them out.I'm pretty happy with both the installation and the appearance. This unit turned out to be incredibly easy to put in. I ended up being able to do it without putty, since the provided neoprene washers seem to be holding up. I love their instructions, which included a test step to help determine if the putty was necessary (frowny face indicates you need putty). I did need an allen (hex) wrench, which was not provided, but it was a common size. Spec-wise this unit works with overflow sinks and has a 1 1/4" drain hanging down, which is also a nice polished metal.Looks wise, the Hansgrohe is beautiful and I like that it is all metal with a nice brushed appearance. This is in strong contrast to the very poorly made Pfister unit that I tried installing before it, which was mostly plastic and looked cheesy. The Hansgrohe can get water spots occasionally, but wipes off easily. That's the norm for brushed nickel, so I won't knock it for that.Overall I can thoroughly recommend the drain.

Well manufactured pop up drain.
Well constructed, German designed pop up drain. My plumber installed it recently and said it was a breeze to install and suggested I purchase more as my budget allows for my other bathroom sinks!

What a great piece of engineering and product
What a great piece of engineering and product. The fit and finish are excellent. The design allowed for a leak free and super straight forward install. This would be the perfect product but the plastic actuation feels so cheap. The Plumb Pak PP820-79DSBN feels 100x better. I have three of the Hansgrohe drains installed and only one will get used everyday (or at all really). I fill the sink every morning too shave and the plastic actuator works but wobbles a little and doesn't have a very satisfying clunk to it. 95% of people probably don't close the drain and fill the sink so it probably won't matter to them. The California Zero and others in the double the price range have brass actuators and feel better but even being that picky I won't pay 2x for them so... I hope it works as well down the road as the Hansgrohe kitchen faucet that has held up really well.

Well made product, but check for open box product
I bought these drains to replace some other drains I had bought that ended up leaking. These are very easy to install and bone dry without any plumber's putty or tape. Very well made and designed. These stand up a little higher than my old drains, but I like it since the old ones didn't have enough flow. But because of these, they are just slightly louder. It doesn't bother me, but something to be aware of.I ordered two of these and once I confirmed they worked, I ordered two more. The second set of boxes had both been opened. I could tell since the chrome drain plugs were in a separate interior box in the first shipment, but were just bubble wrapped in the second shipment. That made me suspicious so I inspected the drain plugs before installation and found that both of them had been SCRATCHED! As you know, it is not possible to easily repair scratches in chrome, so I returned them. Just a note to any buyers to inspect these before installation. I was a bit surprised since these were sold directly from Amazon (not a 3rd party seller).

Mighty fine drain--looks great and works better
Plumbing is usually a four-letter word for me. Every time I install something it takes at least three trips to Home Depot. This may give some perspective for this very favorable review. When first I opened the package I thought there was an error. The assembly seemed much too big for a standard bathroom sink--seemed more like bathtub size. It was indeed larger than the dinky drain that wasn't working right. Turns out, size matters.1. It actually fit the bathroom sink drain opening perfectly.2. Easy install. Very nice gaskets. No plumbers putty needed.3. Tight and leak-free on the first try. (Gotta love that!)4. Pop-up and pop-down work flawlessly.5. The actual drain opening has larger area than the previous fitting. It drains fast.6. The pop-up easily unscrews by hand, from the top, for VERY EASY drain cleaning.Personally I have very little hair on my head so it always seemed incongruous that I was cleaning bathroom sink drains with lots of long hair. Must be the three females who share my home. Thus, #5 and #6 are very important for the future.Would I buy this drain fitting again? YES. I'll be replacing the drain in another bathroom this week. Great product. And back to that first impression: The pop up is larger than what I had before. That's why it's more functional. Form follows function. Is it TOO big? No way. It'll grow on you.

Seems good quality - as advertised!
Update May 2023: We've got 1 year of usage on first one; still works great. I just bought and installed 2 more this week!~~ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW~~It is an easy install. Top gasket sealed just fine on our sink (but I had plumber's putty on stand-by).Pop-up works great, it does have a 'unique' little gurgle as the draining sink reaches empty, but not overly loud or offensive.Since the actual pop-up part is just hand-tight, this should help with cleaning hair clogs down the road.Expensive...I suppose; but I think it might be worth it.

Qaulity construction
The Hansgrohe pop-up drain is easy to install and seals without the need for plumber's putty. The tailpiece is shorter than most and may require an extension of your existing drain pipe. The quality of the chrome is not as nice or durable as the rival Grohe Starlight Chrome. The oversize stopper works nicely and is easily removed to clean the basket and drain pipe.

Works well but fairly large
I really like the function of this but it is fairly large.
