Its OK
The device is good for making indian rotis but requires bit of practice to make perfect ones.I could have given it 5 Starts being a good product but there are couple of issues with the product -1. The Plug doesnt get inserted due to bad design you have make lot of efforts for the same.2. Its making noise while warming up.

The product I received is faulty and does not work
Hello,I purchased this product based on some good demo's back in India, the shipment came in on time (of course it is Amazon who was shipping the product), we were excited to have this product and tried the product the same night. We had bit of a training on using similar(other company) product back in India, my wife and I did the proper preparation of dough.I plugged in the machine and initially some smoke was coming from the handle, thought it is due to some manufacturing issues(it is common where plastic sometime touches the heated parts), we waited for some time, it took long time to heat up that machine, after about 15 minutes the light went off. Assuming that it is ready, we started making roti(tortilla). They were not coming up correctly. Then I realized that the surface is not that hot anymore, it was plugged in everything was good, but still the machine was not heating up.So I switched the plug to a different kitchen outlet after 10 minutes, followed the same process and same thing happened.WE WERE STUMPED ON THE BEHAVIOR AND THEN WE FOUND OUT THAT NONE OF THE KITCHEN OUTLETS WERE OPERATIONAL, THEY HAD NO CURRENT... WOW.. FOUND OUT THAT BOTH OF THE KITCHEN GFI SWITCHS TRIPPED.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT, IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND EFFORTS. I CANNOT SAY THAT THIS BEHAVIOR IS WITH ALL THE PRODUCTS, BUT MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS PRODUCT WAS BAD..

Making chapathis is a breeze now!
The key to success is the consistency of the dough. Not kidding! My proportion is 2 cups of flour, a pinch of salt. Mix the dry ingredients, I use a bread maker as I hate getting my hands doughy (hence the quest for the roti maker anyway). Then I add about 1 and 3/4 cup of water ( can mix in a little milk for softer rotis, but the proportion should be 2:1.75). When all is mixed, I drizzle in some oll, 2-3 tsp, so that the dough separates from the sides of the bread maker better. Let the dough sit for a half hour. Plug in the roti maker, start use only when red light is off i.e. well heated. Takes about 3-4 mins.Back to the dough, using a little flour, make golf ball sized balls and flatten slightly, get all of them done because once you start making the rotis, it will be super quick. Cover with a towel to lock in the moisture. You will realize that the dough is very, very soft, one cannot roll them out in the traditional manner, with this consistency as it will be too sticky.Use the roti maker as directed, there are a lot of good videos out there that demo this very well.Believe me, it is a life saver! I am not one to exaggerate or even one to review anything, but I had to write about this one due to so many negative reviews..I tried and returned the CucinaPro as it did not make good rotis, Jaipan rocks! They do have an ugly sticker on the top, after a few uses, it peeled off easily without leaving a mark. No worries.3 months laterThe thing burnt out on me! The electrical wiring is cheap and it fell apart inside the machine, this was after almost 4-5 times a week use.. Poorly built but worked like a champ. I am now looking for a machine that has better quality wiring!

but Indian chappathi's are getting wonderfully.Update - Chaplathi’s started coming like chips.horrible
I am loving it so far.Sometimes the roti's slide to one side when I am trying to press it,but adding a little bit of flour before pressing and also turning the equipment to face the other side have helped control it.I have never made Tortilla's in it,but Indian chappathi's are gettung made wonderfully well

It didnt work as expected
I bought this with the expectation of making rotis easier, just kneading the dough that I would do. But rotis are not made even in thickness and if pressed more they become thinned near one end than the other. They dont even cook as mentioned in manual. I am not using it at all.

Working
I haven't had any really problems with it so far. It does get much too hot. Would be better if it had an adjustable thermostat. I purchased it used, so the price was right. If I had of purchased a brand new one for the original price, I would have sent it back because of the temperature issue. I use it every week to make rotis.

It Works but doesn't Last - Very poorly built
Terrible product. We bought one and it lasted for a few months until the plastic handle with which you would apply pressure to flatten the dough broke. Also, it stopped heating up uniformly. We though we pressed it too hard to break it and decided to order one more from the Amazon warehouse deals (Used- Like New condition). The first one we received had the plastic handle shattered, so Amazon sent me a replacement and even for the second one the plastic was broken at the same place. Apparently people are retuning the items after using it a couple of times and braking the plastic lever. So please be aware of that if you are going to buy used. All in all, i would recommend steering clear of this product. It works, but it is very poorly built so would not last you more than a few months.

great product
this roti maker really is great , i make tortillas from it everyday and they comes out great, thin and soft. for great results all u need is to add little oil while kneading the dough and dough consistency should be loose than usual and ur tortilla will surely puff up like a ball . its been 1 month since i m using it and no problems so far.. will definetely recommend this product.

Don't buy!! Pathetic Quality and Dangerous!!
Absolutely pathetic design. They should be sued for making a product which is unsafe for use. The electrical wiring melts when the product is used for a few times causing a short circuit. Surprised that it has got a seal of approval from the government of Maharashtra.

Very Pleased
I ordered the Jaipan Roti maker and within 2 days it was delivered :) I have used it a few times already and I am very happy with it! I was surprised how hot it get's, so you really need to be care and pay attention when cooking with. The only issue I had was finding the right consistency of the dough, it slides out of the machine if the dough is not wet enough. Other than that, I am very pleased I bought it.
