A Must-Read for Upwardly-Mobile Professionals
Barnes and Nobles didn't have a copy in stock in any of its stores, so I had to hunt down a copy online (an effort that raised expectations substantially). Karen Kang did not disappoint. Karen's writing style is clear, informative and persuasive. Using evidence and anecdotes, she makes the case quickly and effectively for why branding is important and the changing nature of the business world. As an independent corporate debate consultant with an expanding global client portfolio, I need to pick my collaborators wisely, control the narrative about my services and re-position myself to reflect long-standing skill sets that have suddenly become highly-valued services. Branding Pays has been crucial to my marketing and business development efforts.Where other authors lack the vision or the insight to distinguish between shameful self-promotion and useful examples of past experiences, Ms. Kang's humility shines through the text. Her selected stories have wide applications, reflecting differences in circumstance and diversity of backgrounds while still demonstrating success under varied criteria. The pathways to success are as versatile as the Branding Pays methodology she advocates.By incorporating charts and outlining step-by-step strategies, Ms. Kang opens doorways to thinking about the tough questions and keeps it from becoming cumbersome or overwhelming. Having read over 100 books on branding and career development, Branding Pays is on and shall remain on my must-read list. In fact, it should be on the must-read list of any upwardly-mobile employee or consultant with aspirations for large-scale growth regardless of industry or geographic location.

Excellent HOW-TO book on branding
As someone in the field I have read A LOT of branding books, I am usually pleased if I can get 2 - 3 good nuggets from a book. This one has at least 10 . Sure some of it is common sense - and some may be standard among all marketers and branding experts. She puts it together in a great way. keep in mind- this is a robust step-by-step and in some places ( toward the end of the book) it does get a bit more complicated. Great resource for those who cannot afford a consultant - or even those who want to work with one - but want to feel more empowered while doing so.

5 steps to branding: a well-structured how-to guide
This book helped me immensely redefine my personal brand. I can now understand why is it so important to clarify my position statement and differentiate from the competition. It is a well-structured how-to guide which is very easy to apply without the need to be a branding specialist. It helps you understand how your ecosystem works and how to craft your personal elevator pitch and brand promise. It helped me identify areas of improvement, including hard-skills (technical in my case) and soft skills (people skills). I am now able to remind myself the principles my brand stands for and act on them consistently.

The must read book for anyone looking for step-by-step guide on branding / marketing
Wow.. I was just astounded by how much content this book has. It literally walks you through how to build your branding step by step. Yes, STEP by STEP! It was like I was talking with a marketing professional giving me personal advice as I was reading this book.I have no knowledge of marketing what so ever, but as a solopreneur, I needed to learn marketing. I can say I met THE book I was looking for. Today is the 2nd day I'm reading this book, but it's already helping me figure out my core values, target audience, and elevator pitch. I can't thank enough!!I don't buy kindle version often, but if you're like me and you want to have it open while working on exercises, I highly recommend getting the kindle version. I can have it open on my computer as I work on the exercises in the book.

Excellent and Very Practical
This book is outstanding. It is very clear and filled with excellent advice. Equally important, it offers many examples and exercises that guide readers to put principles into action. After wrestling with myself through a few of the exercises, I was impressed when I realized the outcomes were really valuable. I highly recommend the book and it’s author.

OVERKILL - BUT INTERESTING. YES IT'S WORTH THE PRICE IN DOLLARS. NOT QUITE SURE ABOUT THE PRICE IN TIME SPENT READING IT. OTHER BOOKS HAVE DONE A BETTER IN-DEPTH BUT THIS ONE IS WORTHWHILE IN THE OVERALL SENSE OF UNDERSTANDING BRANDING.

Mind-blowing, on the spot book about Personal Branding
So as I am academically investigating this topic I got to this book. As always I was hesitant whether it would really hold its promises. To come straight to the point this book is a mind-blowing, detail-oriented book that has a hands-on focus. It is not about abstract example. Karen Kang provides real-life examples that catch the attention directly. I read the majority of the book in about four hours without being able to put it away. Thanks to the author I have the theory background I needed. Cheers.

Step-by-Step Personal Branding Exercise
This book made me look at my identity as a thing that needs to be managed for a favorable outcome. The author walks you through step-by-step the process to first identify what your brand represents and then how to fully leverage it. You are made of both your credentials and your personality - failure in either can be brand destroying. She shows you how to optimize both and then convey this package to the world. While you can get a little lost in the technical marketing speak, she eventually breaks it down for you and provides plenty of examples to illustrate her points.

Good book, read it with a grain of salt
Good book, however It seems to be very cookie cut in some opinions about how you should look online, which is a very corporate mentality.

Absoluter Tipp.
