Not New
The book itself is 5 stars. But I purchased a brand new version and there Is no way that this book is new. There are creases on the cover and it has clearly been used. It’s not worth my time to return for a new one, but it’s just disappointing. It does seem like a great book to read for sure. And I know it will very useful for psychiatry residency.

Essential psychiatry reference
This is by far the most useful psychopharmacology reference for practicing psychiatrists. It contains an enormous amount of information on the treatment of psychiatric disorders, comparative side effects of various medications and how to deal with these side effects It is extremely well organized and well referenced. information on using medications in pregnancy, lactation and special populations is also very up to date

and is probably going to be my favorite summer read because of it
I am a hard core Stahl fan, so getting me to read anything that is not Stahl is already a stretch. That said, this book is fabulous. It starts off with medications for schizophrenia, already a huge plus for me, because I happen to treat a lot of people with schizophrenia and related disorders. It is written with wit and style, and is probably going to be my favorite summer read because of it. The humor is subtle, but fabulous. I'm enjoying it so much, I may just read it to my kids at night to share the love. (It's okay, I've already started saving for their psychotherapy for when they are older.)I'll update the review as I go along, but suffice it to say it is well worth the money spent so far.
