Nice easy replacement
AS DP mentioned on 15 February, if you pump is acting erratically the capacitor is more than likely your culprit.I also have a Stuart Turner 3 bar negative twin pump that would stop turning on but could sometimes be reset by turning off the power to the pump. Other times the fuse would blow and upon replacement, the pump would work for a while before stopping. Other times upon replacing the fuse it would blow the replacement fuse immediately which is where you would get the burning smell from the pump. But if you read around you'll see that Stuart Turner pumps are regarded as bullet proof

Perfect for a shower pump (make sure to check your model)
The capacitor in my Salamander shower pump had blown, so in a couple of minutes I was able to replace it and get the pump going again. Such a cheap and easy repair. It's important to check your particular model, and ensure you're safe with electronics if attempting this kind of repair.

Exact Salamander CT50 replacement
Genuine replacement motor capacitor for a salamander CT50. Hard to find else where. If you pump is slow to start up, just hums then this could be the issue. Other brands are to large to fit in the housing.

Great fix for my shower pump!
I was steeled to dropping £150 on a new shower pump when mine was only starting intermittently. A quick search on Salamander pumps was a good investment though. This was a like for like replacement that worked like an absolute charm and fitted in minutes. Dead happy.

Direct replacement for the job
Replacement for original fit, for a Salamander CT50 plus shower pump. Identical component, just have to remove steel mounting fix by sliding it out of recess.

Result!
If you have a Stuart Turner shower pump that has either stopped working or only works intermittently, sometimes blowing fuses, then this may well be the culprit (particularly if you have noticed a slight burning 'electrical' smell, too).Make sure you pick the correct value capacitor (this one was a perfect match for the capacitor in our ST 3 bar twin feed) take the nut and bolt off the end (it slides off easily) turn the pump off at the mains, open the cover on the top of the pump, replace the old cap with this one - and away you go! All the ST service centres advised me to change the pump (£500) but instead I cured the problem for less than a tenner!
