works
This stuff works but you have to have patience. After using it for a couple of days it definitely helped soften the wax which made it easier to come out when i did an ear lavage. Feels great that i can hear again!

Works quickly and well
A pharmacist at Boots specifically recommended Otex to my daughter when we were in England last summer. She and my husband are both beset by major wax buildup inside their ears; and to remedy that, they previously had to visit the doctor for a cleanout. Not now.Five drops of this liquid in each ear softens and breaks up the compacted wax so it can be removed with a Q-Tip. Although a second application in each ear may be required to complete the job, it's a definite time- and money-saver to be able to handle this issue at home!

Did not help in my case, still had to go to a doctor
Otex Express lists its components as urea hydrogen peroxide, 8-hydroxyqunoline, and glycerol. Concentrations are not given. The instructions say that once opened, the bottle should be discarded after four weeks. I used it per instructions, for 5 days (the instructions suggest to use it for 3-4 days, twice a day), in my left ear. I could not say that I felt any difference, or anything came out. For my right year, I used another brand, very popular and readily available on Amazon, based on carbamide peroxide. The comparison is not totally fair because I used carbamide peroxide for about a week - two days longer than Otex. Not sure how much difference it made. I was able to wash a couple of small soft pieces of wax from my right ear, while nothing came out of the left ear. I ended up going to the doctor's office for ear cleaning. The right ear which I treated with carbamide peroxide had relatively little wax left, and it it was soft enough to suck it out very quickly. The left ear, treated with Otex, took a lot of time and even special Rx grade softening drops to remove all wax. From this, I concluded that Otex was not efficient for me, less efficient that cheaper local brands. I also concluded that ear drops can soften the wax and can make the removal procedure easier, but they may or may not actually help to get rid of wax - I guess, it is a matter of luck.

Just had to go to an ENT doc on an emergency basis because of these drops!
These drops will soften the wax in your ears which will let it go through the narrowest part of the ear canal and then sit on the eardrum causing a lot of pain and making it very difficult to remove. It took 45 minutes today for the ENT doctor to remove the wax. She was being as gentle as possible but it was still very painful. Don’t use these drops if you have wax in your ears! Talk to your ENT doc about using hydrogen peroxide and ask if that is a good option for you. These drops are going in the garbage!
