Much better than stock pad

I thought this pad design would offer more airflow vs stock ones I had that are 2 solid pad segments vs the 4 of this one. But, the padding is too dense and the majority of the weight gets distributed to the top two pads in the arc. That means the weight is now mainly on 2 small points and creates discomfort. I can wear the headphones with the stock pad all day, but can’t take more than an hour with these.The tool included was a nice addition to make the install easier.

Good quality and fit, easy to replace

I have owned my HD650’s for more than 10 years and the earpads have lasted that long (I know, go figure). I decided it was time for new earpads but simply cannot justify paying $50+ for original equipment pads from Sennheiser unless they came with the new headphones attached :-). You know what I mean. I decided to give these a try so I ordered the gel version during Amazon Prime Days thinking that they would make a big difference. I put them on and yes, they made a big difference but not one that I liked….I immediately noticed an increase in the bass sound…but it was unusual to my ears. Too much bass, almost manufactured. So I ordered the velour version and with great anticipation, when they arrived, I installed them. Voila, the sound is great! I can’t recall what the new ones sounded like from when I bought them but I can highly recommend this velour replacement at under $20. In fact, sitting here listening to the Paul Simon Graceland remixes and wow! As is always the case, YMMV, but I wouldn’t hesitate to buy these replacements again.
