The thing that you have to understand, if you're trying to start a Bonsai, is that the beginning growing stage, is your bonsai's prima donna stage---if you're not willing to deal with your bonsai's requirements, raise a less complicated plant.This growing matrix is especially designed to support bonsai; a fast draining, nutrient dene, blend ( I especially liked that it features worm castings--Look it up, if you're not familiar )I'm only going into week 3 with my bonsai, but so far, so good :)))))))This is what I've doneI put her in a bonsai pot, with draining holes and screens, which is important.She only gets spring water; no fluoride-laden tap water.I'm actually using a glass pie plate as a humidity tray, with about 2 inches of stones, with water, again spring water, to a point that the water is visible, but the stones are dry on top---I think a shallow humidity tray would work as well; this was just a preference.I live in Southern Ca., not in a cold environment, so she's under a window that is always at least slightly open.I don't get a lot of natural sunlight through her window, so I bought a full spectrum plant light for her, and she gets 6 hours of strong ( level 7 of 10 ) full spectrum light, everyday, in addition to what she's able to get from the window.One thing that I did, that is also mentioned in some of the bonsai materials, is I used a rooting hormone, before I planted her--Bonsai are notoriously difficult to start ( at least for rookies )---I wanted to give her as strong of a foundation, as I could.Bonsai thrive in an outdoor environment---If your tree is inside, you have to do these things, to have a happy bonsai.Hope this helps.

I gave it a few weeks before giving a review, and I am at awe!This soils is amazing!It gave my tree so many new sprouts, and it has really filled out over the past few weeks, my ginseng ficus tree has such big leaves, all branches are thickened with leaves, and new branches and leaves are coming out as well!I wish the bags came bigger but it was still plenty! And I still have some more left over.

My Money Tree is doing well in the same brand of soil that I purchased before. I need to transplant it, so I ordered the same soil. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!! If you are satisfied with a product why switch?

This was not bonsai soil . It’s like this seller purchased a big bale of soilAnd broke it down into small bags and went online and printed the labels and ripped of a lot of people that are beginning in bonsai and just don’t know yet . Real bonsaiSoil has akadama pumice lavarock maybe small pine chips but not like this stay away people

I had a bonsai for over a year and it's soil had mildew buildup on the top layer. Bonsai's like to be watered often and the mildew buildup and normal, however I knew it was time to swap out the soil and I didn't want to go through the trouble of making my own. This soil is affordable and my bonsai is healthier than ever, still expect some mildew on the top layer, you can just scrape it off. One bag was enough for me to replace the soil with plenty leftover for future use.

So It is a great product.. but I would recommend to do some type of tape over the zip lock because my package came in like this. This is not necessarily the fault of the company as much as it is the delivery. I had to scrape up what I could but I was hoping to have half the bag left to use when needed I don't have much left.

We grew two trees. One with this soil mix, and one with regular soil. The tree with this soil did amazingly better than the other. When the other one inevitably died, this one was still going strong!

It’s tricky to find the perfect bonsai online and you never know quite what you’ll get. I like this a lot, it’s got the right consistency and composition and I used it for repotting my bonsai. I will purchase this again!
