This tail is a very low quality tan. It was shipped in an incredibly inappropriate manner, and hardly lives up to the claim of being "super huge and fluffy". It broke very easily in several places because of the way it was tanned, and the grease from the chemicals were on it when it arrived. This isnt even craft quality fur because the leather core is so low quality, when I attempted to sew it back together, the thread ripped right through the tail. Waste of money. Do not buy this. Only redeeming quality is that my cat enjoys it as a toy now that i have washed the chemicals off the remaining scraps. If you know anything about taxidermy, you know that a professional tan will not be greasy, reek of chemicals, and fall apart in your hands. I knew better than to try mass produced fur but I gave a cheap source a shot. Do not make my mistake, try my current source "furtails.com" a shot instead. They do not fall apart, and are properly tanned and cleaned.

It sounds from other reviews like this item used to be sold by a 3rd party. At the time when I bought mine it was sold by and shipped from Amazon.I guess at $5ish you can't beat the price. Mine arrived crammed into a teeny tiny plastic sleeve, which was folded into a cardboard mailer, like you would use for a book. Once I unpackaged and fluffed it up a bit it's okay, no lasting damage.It's a little larger than advertised (that's neither a complaint nor a happy squeal, just an observation). I know it's just luck of the draw, but mine has a funny shape. It's fluffy at the base, and fluffy towards the tip, but has a skinny part right in the middle, which looks kind of silly. Overall it's not as fluffy as the product photo shows, and the fur is sort of sparse, wiry, and unpleasant. I will try to fluff and comb it into a better shape eventually, but right now it yucks me out a little because the tail itself is really stiff. Hopefully it will soften over time? I am using it as a purse charm. The metal cap and clasp are much more attractive than a piece of chain looped through a slit in the skin, like you normally see on tails.I've bought several fox and raccoon tails over the years, though this is the first one I've bought online. Not being able to pick your favorite out of a bunch definitely has its drawbacks, but, like I said, the price can't be beat. Overall I'm bummed about not getting a nicer one, but don't regret the purchase.Update: NOPE, NOPE, NOPE, NOPE, NOPE! I tried combing mine out to fluff it up. While doing so I found a big naked bald spot and a big, yucky glob of goo mashed into the fur on the underside of the tail. I don't know if it's goo somehow left over from the tanning process, or if it's glue from when the tail was glued into the cap, but either way it TOTALLY yucks me out. If I snip it out then the bald spot will be HUGE. Like.. thick, sickeningly pale, naked rat tail visible from a distance. Also, my combing efforts did not improve the shape of the tail. Returning, probably not even exchanging. Might have turned me off to raccoon tails forever.

I got this for part of a Halloween custome, it is exactly as described! Pretty large tail, feels nice when wearing it and when touching it. When it arrives it will look like a piece of jerky, as it is vacuum sealed, but it puffs out a good deal after taking it out and running your hands through it to expose it all to air.As with all these kinds of tails, they are a bit fragile though. If you aren't careful when wearing it you'll probably damage it. If your careful and only plan to wear it infrequently, this should last you a good while though!

The tail arrived early. When I took it out, I expected it to be very full and fluffy. And it wasn't in a way. It's soft and fluffy, but not "full fluffy" around the the tail. Sort of satisfied, but not entirely.

I ordered one for myself as a key chain and it is great. The quality of the tail is excellent, soft, bright colors, really a great product.Later a friend wanted one too so I ordered the exact same one for him. His wasn't nearly as good as the quality as the first one. Not as bright or soft. And you could feel lumps where the skin wasn't skinned from the tail as well.Understandably so because as all raccoons are different so will their tails be. But man, that first one is really nice. The second feels like a what you'd expect for six dollar product.

While I did originally buy it for myself for cosplay and and general fun, it quickly became apparent I had actually bought it for my cat Miyu. It’s super cute as an accessory and durable. It fluffs up to a great thickness and is super soft. Before my cat claimed it, I got so many compliments on it and people asking where I bought it.

I bought this for my 9 year old daughter's halloween costume. It fluffed up quickly and easily and is quite beautiful. She wore it to school and to a couple of halloween parties and out trick or treating. I was worried about it's durability based on some other reviews, but it held up very nicely.

I clip this tail onto my riding vest, everyone likes it. I have it for a couple months lasted a few motorcycle rides i accidentally pulled it off riding from Vegas, went home and just glued it back in, so far so good its hanging in there. I also dont like the fact that it came from a real animal

Okay, so this is a very good looking tail, but here is my opinion on the quality. Normally on my other tails from other brands you can part the tail in the middle and see the leather, which is super useful in case the leather breaks. The fur at the top was matted and disgusting. Also the whole tail was really oily so when I pet it my hand has some type of oil on it? This makes the tail look super shiny.And the keychain part isn’t very Well secured onto the tail so it looks like it could break any second.Overall there is a lot of problems with this tail but they are all fixible!And the tail looks decent too.But at your own risk,Expect to have to fix many things when they break.

In reading the other reviews of this item, it is clear that the quality varies significantly. Some people are happy. Some aren’t. I’m not happy. This tail must have been from a very thin and sickly racoon...
