Great VMNTX!!!
This Dave Mustaine VMNTX came in very good packeging. The pickups are great and they also sound even greater with a Line 6 Spider IV amp. Even though it has a bolt on neck, that makes it easier for adjustments. the strings are very durable even at drop a tuning. The finish is amazing when you use a spot light and with a ploish on it. Great for the price and the style. If you are looking for a V style guitar, don't go for a very expensive one like a Gibson. Instead, get either Dean V's cause they're really durable, low price, and great quality! I would recommand this guitar (and all of the other Dean V's) for any guitarist.

I'm just starting out as a player and thought this inexpensive model whould be a good start since I knew I loved the neck proportions
I have a friend with a higher end Korean factory Dave V, and its one of the nicest guitars I ever played. I'm just starting out as a player and thought this inexpensive model whould be a good start since I knew I loved the neck proportions. This Chinese factory model is barely a guitar. The action is not strieght and there is serious fret buzz. I tried making an adjustment to the truss rod, but I think the neck pocket is too low and needs to be shimed. There's also some serious QA bugs in the electrics. On the middle switch postion one or both of the pickups keeps cutting out. Sad part is there really doesn't need to be 2. They sound identicle to one another on this low end model. It wouldn't be a problem at all to just have 1 pickup on this student grade model that isn't going to see studio or stage, the only reason they have 2 is to make it look like the high end models.300 should be a fine price point for a student guitar, but this one has serious corners cut. Shame on you Dave and Dean for putting your names on this junk.

Great Intermediate Guitar
Bought this to replace my starter guitar set and it was very worth it. I always wanted a flying V shape guitar because they just felt more comfortable to me, and this guitar is no exception. Grover tuners, TOM bridge, string through, all things I wanted in a guitar at an affordable price point. The pickups that come with it are not great, but they are decent. The neck feels great and the action was set nicely. There were no problems on my guitar, but fair warning, these guitars have their fair share of Quality Assurance problems. My friend got one (the black version) and his volume knob was messed up, and his input jack was very loose. A great guitar when everything works as planned.

Only For The Megadeth Fan Who Wants All of the Dave Mustaine Signature Guitars
I ordered this from one of the music stores listed on Amazon, mainly because of the way Amazon packed the last guitar I bought from them...extremely poorly. It really was a wonder that the guitar made it here in one piece. That being said, the packaging this time was great. No worries at all about the guitar being damaged in shipment. However, as I pulled the guitar out of the box and saw "Made in China" on the back of the headstock, I knew I was in for some trouble. I took it out to my studio, tuned it up and started playing. Fretboard and frets felt great, very easy to play. The Grover machine heads keep it in tune. The pickups are passive, but sound very good. They have a very nice crunch to them. The finish is impeccable, except for the neck. The neck is a maple neck and has an extremely noticable scarf joint where the headstock meets the neck. This isn't bad in and of itself, but it looks horrible, as the two pieces of maple don't match. If you're going to use a scarf joint, paint the freaking neck! The next thing that is bad about the guitar are the volume and tone pots. There is a lot of play in the pots and the tone pot spins completely around, so they're all going to have to be replaced. This will run me around $60 $70 to replace them. Then there is the pickup selector switch. The locking nut on the switch is broken and will have to be replaced and the switch is actually put in sideways. However, contrary to what another reviewer wrote, the pickup switch is not wired wrong. This was how Dave wanted it wired, with the first knob being for the bridge pickup, the second one for the neck pickup, then the last one as a master tone. Also, this guitar does NOT come with straplocks, so I bought the Dunlop Dual Design Straplok. Now, the button for the upper wing of the V fit just like it should. However, the strap button for the body was incorporated into one of the neck plate holes, so there had to be some wood dowels and a couple of drops of wood glue in the hole for the straplok screw to fit. Not that big a deal, but something that, in my opinion, should have been thought out better. So, after putting an additional $70 or $80 dollars and a little elbow grease into this guitar, I'll have one that will almost be as good as my Dean Dave Mustaine "End Game" VMNT guitar, which was made in Indonesia. I do hope that from now on, Dean's non USA made guitars are made in Indonesia. The craftsmanship is head and shoulders above the Chinese models and there is much more attention to detail on my Indonesian Dean than on my Chinese Dean.

Wow really?
I love the guitar it looks great. The only thing is it has chips by the neck, a screw in the tuning knob is broke and the pickups are wired opposite as the volume knobs.. Yeah. Sorta pisses me off. The neck is complete crap too.. I wish I could leave seller feed back.. I'd love to work something out..

This has to be one of the worst Guitars! When it arrived I immediately had to repair the neck because it was not even screwed on properly which means I also had to put on new strings! What kind of a Guitar which costs $400 have this many problems definitely sending this pile of junk back. F you Dean!

No brainer,...the string stretch pic makes it priceless! Plays nice too!
My gag is playing some sort of knockoff gwar nightmare strumming perfect peter, paul, and mary versions of puff the magic dragon in my best eleventy-three alter boy dual octave vocal treatment. The very ability to clearly interpret an ancient folk platinum standard ( got gold?) sez something about the instrument you just stole. This is a very nice solid body electric guitar. The bare knuckle picture of the string hold ( signature collector ) was my blink. The great backup to my 56 gold lester. Hoodahh thunk dat'?
