A GREAT BOOK
I actually work a Christian bookstore that carries a wide "Variety" of books on "Spirituality" including Joyce Meyer, Paula White, and Joel Osteen. We actually have a "Spirit Filled Living" section. A few months ago i placed a stack of these very biblical books on the shelf with the books of several prosperity focused charismatic writers. To my amazement, i have sold many many copies of the book to buyers, who are excited for it's apparently unique desire to found itself on SCRIPTURE. Wow thats a unique thought, writing a book on Spirituality that focuses on SCRIPTURE. Also, i think the fact that it is one of the few new books on sprituality featuring something else on the cover other than somebodies latest teeth whitening job doesn't hurt.Cheers!

Now is a Good Time.......
So many people I meet today are isolated by design or by circumstances. If God can not draw near then He is of no more value than a lucky rabbit's foot or a special coin. Seek Him and he will enfold you in His loving arms. This book helps us to combat our isolation and find comfort in His presence. The God Who Draws Near: An Introduction to Biblical Spirituality

Good Introduction to Spirituality, But It Wasn't the Deepest
I got this book for my wife. She read it and was unimpressed, feeling it was elementary. I then read it, partially for research on my next novel. I felt the same way. This book deals with important points, but it could have been done better. One distraction is Haykin's obvious Calvinistic stand; he didn't ever mention anything leaning away from the five points. When quoting people, he used adjectives like "Baptist" and "Puritan" as if that colored what they said. A non-Calvinist would be distracted because of this emphasis.
