I See a Kookaburra!: Discovering Animal Habitats Around the World Hardcover – Picture Book, May 30, 2005

I love this book. However, I wanted to project it in my classroom using the Kindle web reader, but the formatting of the pages is all wonky!! The two page spread in the Kindle version is not the same as the print version, so only half of the two page illustration is visible for half the habitats in the book. Bummer! Otherwise, it is awesome! I love the concept of the book and the illustrations.

My kids love this book

My 6-year-old is studying habitats, so we've read this book a number of times, as well as reading other books. This is a non-fiction genre, but it is such a fun picture book! Each habitat has 4 pages. The first two pages show the overall habitat, and you see little bits and pieces of the animals--a leg, a tail, a beak--and have to try to guess what sort of animal it is. The next two pages show the animals in those same positions and give a description about each animal. My daughter is so thrilled with this book that she chatters so much I can barely get a chance to read the descriptions to her.

I used this to teach a lesson about habitats in a second grade class and the kids loved it. SO does my 5 year old son

The pictures are truly artistic - they have beautiful color and texture. My grandchildren enjoy looking for the partially hidden animals on a page and then turning the page to see what the entire animal looks like.

A delight to explore with my 5 year old. And something he spends time looking at on his own as well! So many animals to find!

works great for Science unit.

My 3-year-old son loves this book! He learned to name almost all of the animals and had fun drawing them. He even wants me to "google" images so he can see real pictures of the animals in the book.

Thin is one of the books my little one pulls out for reading over and over again. He in fascinated with it.It's informative but I wish the artwork was finer.

Beautiful pictures. Not much story, more of a factual book. Great for kids 3-6 years old. A classic. Questo libro e' anche buono per bimbi Italiani imparando Inglese.
