SKB 19" AV shelf for 8U+ slant top racks

Nice metal frame, sturdy unit, and don't let the 2U space requirement make you worry too much. I was able to install this unit directly overlaying my 2U width CD controller with the same screws going through both this shelf and the CD unit into the same matching holes in the rack. Once the unit is pivoted up and out into the "use" position, it's slick and lets me see my CD unit displays. With the all-metal construction I was able to add a separate magnetic light onto the bottom of the laptop shelf to illuminate my top-rack mixer. I only had to buy my own hook & loop tape for my laptop to get it to attach to the carpeted shelf, but that wasn't a big deal at all. Great product at a great price.

I paired this rock-solid SKB 19-inch AV Shelf with an Odyssey ATA 6U Flight Case, and added a magnetic-mount LED powered light bar to the front edge to illuminate the mixer below.Quality of construction is quite good, and I was pleased the carpet on mine was securely properly to the metal tray, without separation, noted by earlier reviewers. The two rack mounting rails extend independently on hinged arms, allowing secure anchoring to the top rails of the Odyssey flight case. The hole alignment was off, however, with only three holes lining up with flight case top rails.Height of the AV shelf is a concern, unless you are using a digital mixer or controller with a raised back panel, that requires added clearance. Its challenging to reach a laptop keyboard from a seated position, if it is 7 3/4-inches above the mixer or controller. If simple wing-nuts were added to the hinge-bolts, the shelf could be moved forward, and adjusted to any level.There have been no concerns with my laptop being unstable or sliding off the shelf, as earlier reviewers noted. The front edge of the shelf has a raised lip for additional protection, I also attached two lines of double-sided foam tape to hold the computer in place.While this SKB 19" AV Shelf may not be perfect, it works for me, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I aboslutely love this 8U case from SKB. If you carry a laptop to gigs, make sure you order the laptop tray with this case as well. It folds down and fits nicely inside the case even with the top on. Amazon's price on this rack can't be beat. I love the lightweight feel of the case, but don't be fooled. It is very rugged. My first outdoor gig after buying this case it inadvertently fell of the top of my handcart when moving gear over some rough backyard terrain needed to get to a party. The SKB case took the fall in stride and protected my $1500 woth of mixer, mics, mic controller and powerstrips. No damage to the case and no damage to the equipment inside of it. Well worth the investment.

This is a nice laptop shelf, I use it on my Odyssy portable rack case with slant top rack. It holds my laptop nicely above my mixer and works well for my mobile DJ setup. The metal is heavy duty with nice tough black finish, the hinges are smooth and tight and the carpet on the laptop pad is nice. I recommend this laptop shelf.Here's a tip, if you want to be able to have the shelf up in a forward position instead of the back position, get two of those little screw on metal window/sliding glass door track security clips for like $2 each and you can clip them to the front of the bracket to block the hinges and keep the shelf up in a forward position.

Until I found this shelf I tried almost every laptop stand out there but none of them worked very well. They were all rickety. This shelf is the best. The only drawback is the carpeting. Whoever was in charge of gluing down the carpet that day really screwed up. I was expecting mine to have the carpet peeling off based on the reviews I read prior to ordering it and they were right. It came out of the box peeling. But I just glued it down. It is sturdy. The shelf takes up very little space on the SKB DJ case. Glad SKB made this. SKB, next time, don't scrimp on the adhesive. Otherwise, SKB rules!

I purchased the shelf to use on a SKB DJ Station106 case. Installation was very easy and the fit is just right. One thing I didn't account for is when the shelf is in its full extended position and laptop open, it is very high. I'm tall so not a problem for me and I use an adjustable table so I can see over just fine. However, if you're under 6' and you are behind your rig you'll be hidden from your guests. A good DJ should never be hidden from the guests. Overall good build quality and very sturdy. The shelf definitely serves its purpose. The shelf is wide enough for my 15.6" laptop and an external hard drive. I haven't had an issue with anything sliding off.Only con is I agree with other reviews that the carpet used is not the greatest quality and attached poorly.

This thing is soooo heavy and well built! it moves great and stays in place wherever you leave it! it fits my rhino case really nice, the only problem is that when its folded the top of the rack does not close properly... this might be fixed by removing the stoping piece of the shelf so it would fold a litle bit more.The movement it has is amazing, and it can support my Asus Rog (9.9 pounds) and a blackmagic mini recorder without struggle!

This laptop holder works great. I use it to DJ for friends. I Was a Disc Jockey for 18 year and now retired from it but still have my equipment so when my friends ask if I’ll DJ for them I usually say yes but realized I needed to go digital without spending a lot of money. This worked out perfectly. It fold down so I can still put the top on my equipment crate. It really sturdy.

Mounts solid on the rack case . Holds my old heavy laptop and folds away with no struggle at all . Highly recommended
