Good buy
There were many crushed seeds in my pack but I still received 52 whole seeds to plant, so they must put extra in. Of those 52, only 18 germinated. The 18 that grew, germinated and grew very quickly (within 2 weeks) but I waited 40 days to be sure after reading about many people having slow germination times. I did follow the instructions and cold stratified the seeds in the refrigerator first, and I have a greenhouse that I start my seeds in for optimal warmth and humidity. I am fully satisfied with 18 plants since comfrey is a notorious spreader. I started these seeds directly into 4” pots rather than seed flats since they quickly develop a long taproot.

Takes time to germinate
In spite of the negative germination reviews, I ordered these. I put the seeds in a mason jar with water (with a lid) in the refrigerator and honestly forgot about them. They were probably in there for 5 days. I was nervous that I had ruined them, but kept on going. I prepared dirt that was perfect for seedlings. (Important) you have to gently press them in the dirt and lightly cover the seeds. Then I misted the dirt with water. I also covered my tray with Saran Wrap. The tray was placed in my breakfast area, but only got indirect sunlight. In maybe 6 or 7 days I started to see them coming up out of the dirt. It was only a few at first. As time went on, more and more came up. Here is the important thing to remember: these can take up to 30 days to germinate! Don’t toss them out or give up. As you can see from my tray, I still have some coming up. So far, I probably have 40 plants. (I had to put 7 dust on them to keep something from nibbling on them)The other comments about this plant being invasive: All you have to do is harvest or cut the plant down before it goes to seed. If you see flower buds or flowers, cut it. You are probably like me and growing this plant to harvest the leaves anyway.

Takes long to sprout..........
I put them in the ice box with water like the direction says for 48 hours. I could see white tips coming out of the seed after 48 hours. I planted them in Burpee round coco peat drop ins and place them on a heat pad. However, after 14 days they did not sprout even with the white tips, so I took the dome off and left them outside and kept them moist. They started sprouting after 30 days.............but my marigold did not sprout yet.

None sprouted
After reading the reviews, I purchased with excitement and ready to grow comfrey. Followed the directions of soaking and planting. Planted in cups and kept adequate water and sun. Not one seed sprouted. Very disappointed. I may try again but hate to keep throwing $ away if not going to germinate.

Soak, cold stratify, then plant
I had a great yield with this seeds, and I think that is because I looked up how to grow them first since comfrey has some unique needs. I soaked them first, rinsed, then cold stratified in my fridge for 4 weeks. Planted these seeds in a pot outdoors after the last freeze, and I had a way better yield than I anticipated. I feel some empathy for people who try to sell seeds online and get harsh reviews because customers don’t fully understand the plants’ needs. All to say, I think that these seeds are perfectly good, need a little research before planting, and I’m very happy with my purchase.

Comfrey Seeds
I was skeptical about germination after record heat and hurricane weather delivery delays by USPS. I followed the directions to soak in the fridge for 48 hours. It got delayed to 56hours but when transferring to pots this morning a good 85% of the 50+ seeds were already starting to sprout.

Can’t get these to germinate
I tried only one round but was not able to get any to germinate. I did the cold, damp storage first and still nothing. So, I can’t give these a great rating but I am going to try again. Fingers crossed.
