Great Shorts...and Read the Fine Print.
The shorts are cut a bit longer (9" maybe) than the current (6"?) style. I appreciate that and the partial elastic waist that is comfortable and accommodates fat days and skinny days. Very light weight material - would work as swim / quick dry shorts if needed.Read and observe the pocket descriptions. I prefer my wallet at rear left pocket. These shorts have one right rear pocket. Minor difference, but annoying - decided to carry the wallet in a front zipper pocket. Probably better crowd security, overall.

Love these shorts, but same quality issues as others
These are nearly the perfect pair of shorts for me. The elastic waistband holds well, they are very breathable and cooling, very comfortable, and love all the pocket options to hold many items and have the security for important items with the zippers. I originally bought one pair for a lightweight, comfortable travel short for a very long international trip and they delivered on everything I hoped. I liked them so much I broke my rule of not having too many pairs of the same thing and ordered four more pairs recently. However, that's where the removal of a star comes in. The original pair has been worn and washed many times without issue. But one of the new ones is facing the same quality issue that others have mentioned of the crotch seam coming apart after only wearing 3-4 times, and none of those under any sort of strenuous activity. I read another review who mentioned they were able to contact Pudolla and get a replacement pair, but am running into roadblocks since they were sold by Amazon and I'm about 2 weeks past the 30-day return policy. I would still recommend these and have to others, but know they will be a bit of a roll of the dice. They do tend to run slightly large, by the size chart I should probably be an XL, but the L fits absolutely perfect for me with a waist in the 36-38 range.

Really are great summer shorts for hot weather sports or casual ware.
Love these shorts. They have a lot of stretch in the waste band which I really like. I only need a belt if I put too many heavy things in the pockets. The first pair I ordered was size Large. I'm a 33 waste and Large still fit good because of the elastic waste but could be pulled off with out undoing anything. I now have 2 more pairs of medium size. The fit is better and will fit me even if I put on weight.Nice cool material with lots of pockets. I can see more colors in my future.

Great Sorts, Poor Workmanship
Bought 3 pairs of these shorts and on pair the crotch stitching came loose after wearing them 3 times and the 2nd pair the same thing happened after wearing them about a half dozen times. This was not me "ripping" the crotch open by my movements - the stitching just came loose. Fortunately my wife is sews and was able to fix them. The third pair no issues so far. Shorts are lightweight and comfortable to wear and fit well but ya'll have got to work on quality control!!!!!!!

Encourages superhuman efforts in pickleball
Since we old folks in Georgia are irrelevant to most everything except spending on healthcare and playing pickleball, I decided to try yet one more pair of shorts for The Game hoping to find meaning and purpose. I chose the Pudolla hiking shorts. Indeed, I am glad I did.So, what do I need for pickleball? Well, I need a non-constricting fit for my... hmmm... various regions so I can get down ("compress") for the ball. I need a wicking material because we old folks sweat (but don't like to show the world, being genteel about our...hmm...regions). I need pockets because of course we old folks need to carry pretty much everything we carried before we retired; you never know when you will need a slide rule on the court. I need to look suave and debonair, as they say, because we gaze upon each other from the sidelines, as if back in high school. Never too old for fantasy or envy. I need belt loops and elastic because, well, I have a bit of pear shape as some older folks do. And I need a color or two that will faze my opponents and at the same time exhort my partners and encourage me to exert my utmost. (I know. Just liked the sound of the verbs). I chose Superman Blue for my Pudollas, by the way. Obviously.I found everything I needed - everything YOU will need - in these Pudolla cargo shorts. Just about perfect for pickleball 'neath the Georgia sun. Thank you, Pudolla family. Just what the stylish gomer wears to dink thoughtfully.Added almost a month later:Well, I now own 3 pairs of these shorts, and I just ordered a fourth. Yes, like them that much. Yes, they wash great (although I do hang-dry them, not that I know why). They maintain their shape and look through washes, sweat, sunlight, activity, AND the admiring - even envious - stares of my pickleball group. But it is so bloody hot down South, and these shorts are so comfortable, that I bought extra pairs to wear all the time. I don't like that the price changes every so often: sometimes I feel like a chump when I paid more, and sometimes I feel like a great bargain hunter (like today) when the price dropped for a color I wanted. Maybe I should take these prices as a metaphor for impermanence? Should we be Stoics about our shorts?
