Professional Digital Paint and Coating Thickness Gauge Nicety CM8801-FN

Product worked great right out of the box. I use this gauge strictly on trucks and cars and it works great. automatically switches from steel to aluminum. It was compared to several different brands (some costing up to $600) and all were found to be within 1/2 mil of each other. This is easily good enough to determine if a vehicle has had paint repairs from 1 layer to dozens of layers of paint. Since I recently received it and have only used it twice, longevity would be a question. So far, so good. I am quite happy with it and the price I paid for it particularly when compared to units costing several hundred dollars more.

Works well, just wish it would average the readings.

This thing helped me find bondo when investigating a car I was interested in buying. When I saw 11.4 mills my eyes opened wide and I slipped my hand behind the fender and sure enough it was bondo. And a crappy job at that.

This unit couldn’t calibrate to its own substrates given. I went the extra mile to watch a few videos to ensure I was doing it right. It was all over the place. I returned this first unit and re-ordered another to see if it was just a defective unit.

Very easy to use. It seems to work and comes with a nice carrying case. Only issue I have is the pocket inside of the carrying case fits the device a bit too snugly, so takes some effort to remove and use it. Otherwise, it's perfect!
