Nearly perfect portable speakers
Ok let's get the inevitable out of the way - these speakers do not sound as good as the Bose SoundDock speaker. My roommate has the Bose and they sound really nice. However the Bose speakers are also $200 more expensive and are not portable (well now they have a portable model but that's even $300 more expensive!).So how does the mm50 sound? It's exponentially better than low-end budget speakers. I used to have the Pacific Rim cube (about $30 when I bought it) and the mm50 blows it away. Using the Bose as a reference point, I'd say if the Bose were a 10, then the mm50 would be about 7 to 8. The sound is definitely above average for a speaker as compact as it is. But on an absolute scale it won't measure up to the more expensive speakers. Why rate it 5-stars then? Simply because it's a great value for the money (about $100). The sound quality is excellent for a speaker in this price range. It is loud enough to more than adequately fill up a bedroom with sound. I've even used in a small gym and found that it provided decent sound for a relatively large room.As far as extras, it comes with a semi-rigid carrying case, wall adapter, some docking adapters (fits my mini and 5G ipod, don't know about the newest ipods though) and IR remote. The remote is really the only disappointing aspect as it only works from about 10-15 feet and you almost have to be directly in front of the speakers for it to work. But since a lot of speakers in this price range don't even have a remote, I consider it a minor issue. So if you want something portable that sounds pretty good on an absolute basis (and great for the price), then this is the speaker for you. The bottom line is that you're not likely to find anything significantly better in terms of sound quality or features unless you're willing to move up into the SoundDock price range ($300+).Update 10/28/07Logitech has released a newer version of this speaker called the Pure-Fi Anywhere. I haven't heard it yet myself, but a couple Ipod-related sites I frequent gave it positive reviews, saying it was even better than the mm50. Since it is new you likely won't find it quite as cheap (msrp is $150). But it might be worth checking out if you don't mind spending a bit more money to get what is supposed to be an even better speaker.

Good But Some Design Flaws
This product came well recommended and it works well. The speakers are small, portable, and fairly loud for the size. There is little to no distortion at peak volumes and the sound is of good quality.I did, however, find some aspects of the speakers to be useless or poorly designed.I was intrigued with the idea of having speaker system that had Rechargable batteries, hence my choice of this one. However, the power button is hard to figure out. Sometime the speakers seem on, even when I have pressed the power button to turn them off. I have even had reports from others and once from me, that the speakers are always on and frequently discharges itself while in its case. Having a better way of "knowing" the speakers were off would have been a solid idea.My other, and probably biggest issue with this system is the charger portability. I guess when designers decided that it was going to be this small, they decided also to not allow you to carry the AC adapter for charging in the case as well. Its not much bigger, its just an odd shape and therefore you are required to carry it seperately. Additionally, the case does not even provide enough room for carrying your IPod. Go figure.Minus a few design flaws, which I find humorous when products do have flaws such as these, the speakers have been worth what I paid for them.

Very nice product
Wow. This thing is great. The perfect compromise of size, sound, and price. Why would someone want to get a boombox-sized set of iPod speakers? If you're willing to lug that you're probably gonna be in a place with a speaker set anyway. And the super-small ones are nice, but for the sound quality, why not just get a pair of non-powered speakers? These are perfect. Decent bass, decent treble, small enough to fit in a backpack very easily - and that's made more doable by the nice case it comes with. The battery lasts about as long as they claim - I've gotten a couple of full afternoons out of it before it ran out. The auxiliary-in and remote are nice, too.The only flaw is the fact that the iPod just kind of sits on the dock with nothing else to secure it - I used some duct tape to jury rig a "sleeve" with cutout window for the click wheel. Oh, and one more, if you leave it on with no iPod or sound coming out, the batteries will still get drained. So remember to turn it off! In light of these I'd give it 4.5 stars but I can round up.

Nice design, lousy sound
I bought the Logitech mm50 based, in part, on reviews indicating that it was the best sound among the truly portable iPod speakers. Unfortunately, I've found the sound to be poor - like a mediocre portable radio. The design of the unit is great for portability - very light, flat, nice carrying case that is included with the unit - but the sound quality is a big disappointment.

Forget it!
I bought mine about three years ago, and rapidly found out what all the complaints about battery life were about. The unit has a high current drain for detecting outside devices, even when "shut off" and it pulls the battery down quickly to zero charge.Sound was great for such a portable unit. Too bad Logitech has taken a completely unacceptable battery replacement stance (after originally claiming they would offer a replacement battery!) which you will find hundreds of irate customers if you do a google search. To Logitech engineering...put a damn switch on the unit to totally shut it off!! Offer a battery replacement! Wake up and find yet another customer who will NEVER buy any other Logitech product.
