It's AWESOME
This is our second Dyson vacuum-- our first was the DC-01 we bought about 20 years ago (and we still use it-- it's incredible). This one is also awesome! We bought this smaller one when we moved into a smaller house (empty nesters) and just needed something light and quick. Trust me when I say Dysons are worth the money. As I said, our DC-01 is still going strong, and going on two years, our Animal V8 is too. The only thing to keep in mind is to check your filters every few months. This one as a conical filter right in the center of the main body (I actually washed it and let it dry for a few days). On the DC-01, while probably not recommended, I also rinse out and clean each part I can remove (also clean the brush on the bottom of string, hair, etc. I know the photo is really gross, but I wanted to share how awesome this unit is-- especially pet hair. We have four cats, and after vacuuming, you would think we have none. One more thing to keep in mind-- its battery is only good for a few room at a time (as mentioned on their troubleshooting page on their website.

Works great and suction is good for a small vacuum
I purchased this to have a smaller vacuum to use in the kitchen and entryway so I wouldn't have to pull out the larger vacuum for smaller areas. You could definitely use this in a small apartment, etc. without the need for a large version. Also, like how you can mount it to the wall in a closet, etc. which always keeps it charged and ready to go when needed.

Battery Life
Had this about 3 months and use once a week. Store in garage. Charger on a timer for night charging since garage is hot in day. About 2000 sq ft (with furniture etc) to vacuum. About 1/2 wood and tile floors. Uses about one blue light out of the three that show battery status. Carpet areas uses second light and goes into third. I am probably close to the end of its charge but I think I only ran out of power once.Has a high power setting. This will use up your battery very fast. Only had to use once or twice for a spill. You can not use it for regular vacuuming and it is not needed for that.Carpet can be a problem. Some of my carpets are very easy to go back and forth on. Others have a fabric that the suction is very very good on and can be hard to push the vacuum on. Should not be a problem. The vacuum head is very very easy to maneuver and get around furniture and under furniture.Last vacuum was and up right. This is much much better. Also had canister and this is much easier to use.The above assumes no use of the tools. I use these on a different day and could take more time than the vacuuming.

Great item
Wanted to use a few times before leaving review. So far it works great, has great suction, and really cleans. We have three dogs and two cats, so whether this model is any better than the normal one, but hardwood floors, non shaggy carpets is no problem for this unit. It does get "hung up" on some thicker floor mats, like in the bathroom. The brushes will just stop when its on a surface not suitable. Cleaning results are comparable to high dollar Rainbow, but obviously easier to manage. Some people complaining about the battery. We have a 1900 square foot home, and I can vacuum the entire house two times before having to recharge.

WORTHLESS JUNK and COSTLY
The battery can not hold a charge and the unit is cheaply made. This is NOT the Dyson of the past. I had a corded one that lasted 5 years heavy use before it began having trouble. This lasted me a few months and it does an awful job picking up dog hair. Lord it can't even pick up leaves! It clogs constantly too. Check out the reviews on the SV25 battery replacement, all junk that will run you $50 every time and maybe runs 6 months. There is an ongoing cost associated with owning this and it is, in no way, worth the money. I don't know what happened to Dyson, probably like everything else, once they build a good brand, they destroy it with cheap part makers in faraway factories. Maybe try a corded one but just not sure if the brand is even worth it anymore.

Excellent product
This unit is so versatile with so many attachments, and it has great suction power even on thick rugs. It’s been a great addition to our household. We have used it on hardwood floors, carpet, rugs, furniture, baseboards, crown molding, and cleaning the interior of the car.

Battery life short
I love this Dyson! We have 2 dogs and it is great for all the hair around the house. The battery life is not long though.

Great vacuum for both hardwood and carpeted surfaces.
The vacuum is very easy to use. Dyson has always been the pricy option, but after owning this product for a month I can see that some of the price is warranted. The Animal vacuums are great for homes with dogs and cats. Some pros/cons about this vacuum:It is not great for picking up larger particles and crumbs. It charges quick and runs for >30 minutes on a single charge as long as the Power Suction feature is not used.Bagless!!! Easy to empty dirt basket.Quieter than most other vacuums.I would also like to add a high rating for this seller. When the vacuum arrived one of the attachments was missing. I contacted the seller who responded within a couple of hours and the promptly sent our the missing attachment.
