PermaBoot 5516 1.5-Inch Vent Repair, Black

Have purchased 3-4 of these for all the vents on our metal building. They are very easy to instal and work great to seal out the elements. Highly recommend these for anyone needing to fix leaks around your plumbing vents.

While in the attic, I noticed sunlight around one of the vents. Further investigation revealed the rubber boots on all my vents were brittle and cracked. An online search showed how easy this repair can be with the PermaBoot product.The installation is quick and easy. My only knock against the product is that it did not come with instructions. However, there are plenty of online videos, so it was not a big issue. Depending on the height of your vent pipe, you may need to cut it so the PermaBoot fits properly. Don't let this concern you, a quick cut with a hacksaw on the plastic vent pipe will solve this issue.

These permaboots give me such peace of mind. I am a contractor and I do all manner of home repairs. The one repair I seem to do a lot of is usually caused from water damage. The plumbing roof vent (you know, that white plastic pipe that sticks up on your roof), has a rubber boot around it when installed. Within 2-3 years, this boot is history from the weather. Perma Boot goes right over the failed roof boot and prevents water from dripping into the attic and eventually on the ceiling. This is such a simple repair and it prevents expensive damage from water infiltration. I have never had a "call back" after one of these installations.

I have rated this 4 stars as follows:I had purchased in the store (Home Depot) 2 other boots and installed them. I needed a 1.5 inch vent which is not available in the store. The product arrived with no instructions or advice on installing. Since I had already installed 2 others, I did not have to go further. However, what you see in this review (photo) is all you get thru this ordering.The boot is a wonderful way to repair vent pipes!

The rubber seal on my flashing was starting to crack, so I bought this to prevent from having to replace the existing flashing (about $250). Money well spent!

Like another reviewer, my vent didn't stick up enough to use anything but the top part. I fit perfectly, and did the job, but considering the small part that I used, it was unnecessarily expensive. It would be a much better deal if PermaBoot would offer just that top part for less $$. So, 4 stars for that reason.

These save hundreds of dollars in repair costs. I would use them even if existing vent boots are intact, since these fit over them and last forever. The price justifies using these as a protective strategy. These are some of the most ingenious repair units I have ever seen. Given how well they work, coupled with the ease of installation (less than a minute), I can't understand why these are not more widely available. You will definitely not be disappointed. Install it and forget it - guaranteed for as long as you own your home.

Permaboot was easy to install and it fits very well. Material is thick and seems like it will be durable.
