Ronco Veg-O-Matic Food Chopper

The first time I tried to cut an apple, the blade broke. I have written to Rondo twice explaining the situation and they never even bothers to reply. I will NEVER buy anything from them again. The product pictured is not what is received. I had a vegamatic like the picture show for 20 years. It just broke. This does not have metal rings. I has no slicing blade. It's a total rip-off and the company totally ignores any communications.

I recenty bought this product, my mother had one when I was growing up, and even though it has been changed slightly, it is still a great product. The old one had two cutting rings and you could rotate one of them to cut different things. The new one has 4 rings that do the same thing. I did have one problem, the very first time that I used it to make French Fries, a blade in the cutting ring broke and came completely out of the ring. I contacted Ronco and they immediately sent me a new sutting ring. It has been working perfectly since then.

Awful. Just awful. Cheap plastic not up to the intended job. As it says in the instructions, you have to “forcefully” press down to force the veggie through the blades - and I felt every time that it was going to break.It worked just great on a strawberry. One strawberry. I upped it to 5/6 strawberries at once, but then the blade structure cut them weird. Well I can live with that, but do I have to made sacrifices to cut 5 strawberries at once? And forget fibrous veggies like celery. A few made it through, but most gummed up in the blade and refused to go through. If you’re still with me, you can tell I’m not happy with this purchase. The price was right, and it’s been around forever, but I think I’d rather pay more and have it made out of stronger materials. Like metal! Come to think of it, I think I’ll save my money and buy a good quality mandoline slicer.It’s sad. I anticipated a compact, efficient kitchen tool to quickly chop & dice. My Cusinart Food Processor is better (waaaay better!), less work and easier to clean.Caveat Emptor. Save your money.

I've had a Ronco Veg-o-Matic for over thirty years that worked flawlessly, until the locking mechanism failed. I easily give that one 4.5 stars. It was the best french fry preparing tool in the world. My son and daughter-in-law were moving into their new home, so I thought I would buy them one and replace my old one. Upon pulling it out, I was immediately struck by the inferior craftsmanship versus the 30-year old version. Guess what? The locking mechanism broke PUTTING IT AWAY. Wow, how times change...

I purchased this item because I used to have one just like it years ago and I loved using it to make french fries. I made the mistake, this time around, of trying to slice carrots with it and they were pretty tough to slice, so much so that I had to hit it really hard to slice them. I should have known better because I ended up bending the blade and braking off the plastic part on top that pushes the food through the blade, so it is no longer fit to use. I didn't send it back because I felt it was my mistake that it broke. I like the way it works though, and would like to see if I can get replacement parts for it. It is either that or throw it out.

The only reason I gave this 4 stars, is that it is made of flimsy plastic. First time I used it, the plastic piece that holds the side in place, popped out, i was able to put it back in and still use it. I love the ease of use, just wish the opening to put the potatoes in was a bit more open, have to usually cut my potatoes in half.

This Vego-matic is one of the best time savers in my kitchen. It's so easy to use and it doesn't take a Sumo wrestler to operate it. I no longer have to spend time trying to slice potatoes for french fries by hand, risking cutting my fingers off. I have seen other products that are similar but the french fries are so small a shoestring seems larger. It is sharp and stays sharp and take very little effort to operate. I recieved my package quickly and well packaged. The item was exctly as specified. We are lookin forward to using it, because it has much more options ans usage than the old unit we had, which broke. The seller responded to the order very fast and shipped within a day or two. Great performance!
