Spytec Zetta ZIR32 720p HD Night Vision Intelligent Security Camera

The media could not be loaded.  I have not had this for too long. I will say the small size is good and the fact that it does not look like a camera may come in handy. I installed the widget for MAC. It seems pretty self explanatory, but... disabling the MIC does not seem to do anything? I get audio no matter what I do. I set the video quality to the highest settings which seem really good for the first few recordings, however, reviewing more, I find the quality does not always stay the same. For my use this does not matter. I am just stating. I will also state that the video has somewhat a fisheye effect, directly in front is close and the sides appear farther away. Again, I am using this camera for security reasons, the field of view is pretty good for what I want. I set this for auto switching for night/day recording, but it did not work during night recording (it recorded but it was completely dark). I have not tried manually recording at night so I do not know the quality of night recording.UPDATE: Customer support from SpyTec was fast and helpful. The problem was on my end. I read all the instructions, but forgot to switch the mode on the camera when I inputted the custom settings through the Widget. I still haven't tested the auto switching for night/day. I am sure it will work fine.

Wow, this camera has been a blessing. Ive been trying to catch a culprit making messes in my house. Wanting to go least expensive, I have been buying and experimenting with some mini "cube" type mini cameras, cant get them to work and the instruction manuals are so horribly translated it's a joke. So, not getting anywhere I decided to just 'bite the bullet' and get something more professional. After searching and reading reviews on spy cameras, I noticed this one kept showing up and had a lot of positive input from other users. Found the best price here on Amazon and bought it. Instruction manual is written in cognitive english, all the software you need is on or linked thru Spy Tech's website. Easy to set up and get running for basic operation or you can use an extended custom mode which covers almost any type of scenario you may need to get a subject on video (heat sensor, voice trigger, vibration trigger, motion trigger or you can hook it up to an external sensor for trigger signal). Success!! This camera works awesome!! Used it twice over two nights and immediately identified my furry offender. I am extremely pleased that I purchased this camera and am just as happy with how it operates. Daytime video provides very good results and night mode has been impressive! This camera is made by a company named Zetta, they have five or so different camera solutions. I suggest you research all the varying models with different features to see which one fits your needs. I would recommend this camera to family and friends.

I bought this for protection of my car due to a vandalism problem. I had to format the micro SD card (sold separetely) in order to get it to read in the camera. I am not a technical person, but I was able to follow the directions that were emailed to me by the support team and change the formatting. I set the camera up to run continuously in my car and it recorded all day while my car was parked. I was pleasantly surprised the battery lasted! However, since the camera as inside the car pointing out, the bright sunlight made it impossible to see anything outside the car, but the view inside the car was good. Therefore it would not have filmed anyone damaging my car due to the sun glare. Parked inside in a parking garage, with no sun glare, it did film everything outside my car as well. But you really can't get a good view of both sides of the car, you have to pick one or the other. This is small and compact and pretty easy to figure out for a non-technical person like myself!

Update (12/7/2017): I replaced the receiver port for the USB and cleaned the internals up a bit. Audio recording restored and video image is clearer after cleaning some oxidation on a few connections. [I don't recommend amateurs try this]. Camera is fully functional again, and has been actively recording almost continuously for three months. The battery lasts about a week on a single charge with 3-5 activations each day (lasting 2-15 min each). I was unable to get the night vision to work, so it still needs used in a well lit area.Update (4/28/2017):I've had it for about two years now, with frequent use. Picture has slowly degraded, and the audio sensors stopped working. Does ok with a timer set. Stopped working entirely when the receiver port for the USB stopped connecting to the USB cord.Original Review:1 star for awesomely fast shipping. 1 star for eventually working. 1 star for perfect motion sensor activation.Minus 1 star for complicated set up that required multiple downloads & formatting that took 3 hours. Minus 1 star because there is NO night vision as advertised.

I got my first camera and set it up and it worked but the battery life was not as advertised. So I returned it and got a replacement and that is the one I am still using to this day. I have it in my car since someone decided to key it and cause hundreds of dollars of damage, and we don't have a garage. It works great, has a seemingly endless standby battery life and a decent picture. One caveat if you keep this in your car, keep it out of direct sunlight as it will melt - ours started to melt and still works perfectly! I would recommend covering the casing while leaving the camera lens exposed, we use a small box with a hole for the lens, this protects the camera and also disguises it.

First note that there are reviews of different cameras mixed together, apparently 'size:' can also be model or, well, almost anything really! Secondly a really good review of the Z16 by Larry. I can recognise many of the traits of the Z16 in the ZIR32. Here is what I have found out so far:The good:Comes with manual written in good english (far from always the case).The company has good support of it's products with chat, software and firmware updates, and the essential Zetta widget (Actually an App or what we old timers called a program!) on two sites spytecinc.com, support.spytecinc.com and zetta.com.hk.All the sensors work very well.Nearly all the good stuff is in 'Settings' in the Zetta Widget. Not at first obvious, but to obtain detailed control over settings, 'Express Mode' must be changed to 'Custom Mode' under tab 'Options'.The not so good:Mine came with an american plug, so I'm using my travel adapter!It doesn't have non-slip feet and took a tour on the floor, fortunately it seems it is robust (or I was lucky!).As there are openings on the top, sides and back, definitely not for use in adverse weather conditions unless you are 100% sure it will stay dry. Filming through double glazed glass has given some good recordings of the cameras IR illuminators (x2!) at night, but does capture things reasonably close, if placed right up against the window.Takes time to understand the beast, particularly:There are 3 modes, continuous, triggered and custom, and unless mine works differently to all others there is a mistake in the manual paragraph 'Setting the Mode'. As I read the paragraph, the difference between continuous and triggered is video resolution, and custom mode must be used for triggers, timed recording etc. However, in 'Triggered' mode, mine definitely does not run continuously and is triggered, but which triggers on which sensitivities I do not know.Night mode doesn't mean that there is some form of low light enhancement, it actually switches on a built in IR illuminator and records light in the IR bandwidth. Not fair to call it a fault in such a small unit, but the IR illumination and resulting 'grey' video is not great.Battery life is hard to judge as there are many parameters, standby or continuous, day/night mode, video quality, which sensors etc etc. But, by the company's own specifications in the manual, the camera has a 2400mAH battery, and daylight recording consumes 100mAH and night time 400mAH. Without allowing for ambient temperatures, dissipation and other variations, then the camera can record continuously for 24 hours daytime and 6 hours nighttime. So far so good, but even on standby, motion detect mode is actually quite expensive, as it must 'see' and analyse what it sees for changes. My best time for standby in Motion Detect (Low sensitivity) was 31 hours. At the other end of the scale, it seems that the Passive Infra Red (PIR) sensor is cheap, and the unit was on standby for 7½ days with over 7 hours of recording. If it can actually last 180 days on standby, presumably by recording nothing or very little, I'm not prepared to wait to find out!ConclusionA fantastic little camera with many sensors that all work very well, video quality in bright sunlight and indoors in artificial light is acceptable with the right settings, but just don't expect too much detail in the dark.

This is actually an excellent camera, so far worked really well and very happy. However the night vision bit does not seem to work, I do not know if I am doing something wrong, but the story is, if it is clear great, if it is dark forget it.Thanks William

A very good piece of kit BUT..., Although I am far from computer illiterate I had to get a friend who is very experienced in computers to aptly configure the device for me. The user manual does not inform the purchaser regarding the downloading of widgets etc.

sick camera.... you got a nice ride you wanna protect or some valuables at home while work isgoing on or at the office...you get the idea the camera is awesome... works perfect quality and sound is goodi leave it to motion sensor and i c everything going on....you won't be disappointed and i got it in 1 day!and setup was pretty simple

Bought this for security in our allotment shed. Attracted by the claim that battery life was 24 hours continuous recording and up to six months on trigger standby. Charged it for 12 hours and set up in hallway to test it. After each of 3 charges the battery lasted for 5 hours each time. In each case there were 5 to 9, 40 sec recordings on the card. Thankfully bought through Amazon Prime so no problem or financial loss in returning it.
