Compatible with older Wii and Virtual Console games as a Classic Controller!
This controller works perfectly, with the ergonomic Gamecube arrangement of buttons making MANY Wii U games more comfortable to play! I also discovered something amazing that I'd never seen listed on any description for this product or in any reviews - THIS CONTROLLER WORKS WITH WII GAMES AND ANY VIRTUAL CONSOLE GAMES WITH THE CLASSIC CONTROLLER ICON!! It is NOT limited only to games with the Gamepad Pro icon, it is in fact backwards-compatible with any older Wii games and virtual console games that have only the Classic Controller icon listed, even if the Gamepad Pro would not work with them. This meant that I could test out this controller playing the Wii game Super Smash Bros Brawl from my Wii U to test just how responsive and similar to the Gamecube controller it is (a test that I am going to say it passed swimmingly!).The one thing to get used to is that the larger, lower shoulder buttons, which were previously R and L on the original Gamecube controller, are now ZR and ZL. The smaller shoulder buttons above them, one of which was previously the Z button, are the new R and L. This means that if you are playing Super Smash Bros with the default controller settings, your muscle memory will have you mistaking which button is for grabbing and which one is your shield, BUT there are two workarounds: either change the controller settings from the in-game options menu to match what you are used to, or continuously use the new settings until you grow used to them again.

If only it played as good as it looks...
The aesthetic is very nice; the glossy pink plastic and the color palette are all nice touches that match the accompanying wiimote perfectly. However, if you are looking for an exact replica of the original Gamecube controller, this isn't it. The controller has a more rounded shape, which changes the grip in a way that makes the upper shoulder buttons hard to access, though they make a nice click when pressed. While the graduated lower triggers have a deep well that would be great for some games that respond to graduated input, for a game like Smash Bros, having to click the shoulder all the way down to shield / grab will mean a lot of finger strain. The C-stick is the same as the left thumbstick which might make it get in the way; and while I like the look of the gem buttons, they don't feel quite as responsive as the original Gamecube controller. The good news is that this controller will work with any Classic Controller Pro enabled game, meaning it can be used for a lot of Virtual Console and eShop games, as well as any Classic Controller Pro enabled games -- see the list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_games_that_use_the_Classic_ControllerAll in all this is a stylish controller with a handful of design flaws, so I would recommend stopping by your nearest local GameStore-type place that stocks these to get a "feel" for it before committing to this model.

R and Z buttons swapped
My husband and I grew up on old school game systems, the game cube included. With the purchase of a Wii U, mariokart 8, and super smash brothers we decided we needed to pick up a couple fightpads (modeled after the gamecube controllers that we played mariokart double dash and smash brothers melee.)These work well, and are very responsive. Our only complaint is that the r button on the fightpad is where the z button was on the gamecube controller which throws us off everytime. It's very frustrating. If you didn't grow up with the gamecube it won't be an issue for you, otherwise you might want to consider a pro controller or the gamecube adapter.Update: you can change what the buttons do in super smash Wii u in the game settings, making the buttons being switched (in that game) less of a big deal.

Really awesome colorful controllers
Adorable pink controller! I always loved the Gamecube controller design so being able to use Gamecube controller for Wii U or even PC is great! I love it! It works really well! I'm actually using it as a PC computer game controller using the Wiinusoft software. The controller is really good quality all around. I guess the only thing that could have been better would have been the shoulder buttons, they kind of have a kind of cheap plastic "springy" kind of effect to it when you press them, I think they could have been better quality but it's okay. I really have no real complaints about the PDP Wired Fight pads, I have the Yoshi one, the Toadstool one, Samus one and this pink Peach one and they're all really good quality.

Incredible controller!!
I've been using this controller for a few weeks now and I mainly bought this controller for use with Smash Brothers for the Wii U. I must say that I am extremely pleased. It works perfectly and much easier to use than the nunchuks. Very comfortable and responsive. The controller plugs into the regular Wii U remote (not game-pad) so make sure you have one because this controller cannot be used alone. The colors are very nice and looks exactly like the picture. I highly recommend this controller to anyone who wants to play Smash Brothers a little bit more than casually.

I really like the fight pad
I really like the fight pad, this is the second one I bought and I plan someday to own all of them, if I am not to broke that is. Would recommend if you love fighting and racing games.

best wii controller on the market
This product works perfectly and i was super excited to get it. Much like the old gamecube controllers these ones are set up very similarly. Helps bring back some nostalgia of when i used to play and I really love these controllers. I probably will be getting more and recommend anyone who hasn't tried on to order one then see if they are worse.

Great Controller
Works great. Right analog stick is a little too big tho in comparison to OG GameCube controllers. Also shoulder buttons have a lot of play before you’re acrually depressing the button.

Good plastic on the base
I posses all four of these PDP variants, Mario Yoshi Peach; and from eBay, Luigi.Firstly, It's smaller than a traditional GameCube Controller - however I suspect these are after all aimed at younger players. So I won't grumble there. The colours match the "matching" PDP Wiimotes perfectly. Good plastic on the base, and good on top too.A nice change from that horrible fingerprint retaining plastic which is the standard for Wii U products nowadays.I've also experienced the "snapover" of the analog sticks as another review has mentioned, and the button layout is ever so slightly tighter. I suspect the sticks may wear inThe screwholes on the back near the triggers are humongous, running down the face of the trigger area; if you have slightly longer fingers you'll most certainly notice them. They drive me nuts. The box had the Nintendo seal of quality, official Wii U logo, and the PDP logo, however...There is *no* Nintendo branding on the fightpad *whatsoever* aside from the original Wii logo on the face. The plug (that is inserted into a wiimote, for those who missed the tiiiiiny print on the front of the box in the pictures) should have this at the very least, but instead has some factory dot-printed production code, making the product look like some budget knock-off when plugged into the "matching" wiimotes that do have the branding. There is a "Made in China" sticker that was half stuck on on each fightpad upon unboxing on the bottom in a recessed circle area under the right analog stick... Which makes me wonder furthermore if I've been served a knock off product. While I'm moaning, why the heck are the home buttons oval? they could have made them match the wiimotes and in turn stayed closer to the GameCube design by going for rounded ones...The kids like them anyway.

A wonderful recreation of a classic controller
A loving recreation of the Gamecube controller for the Wii U. My initial thought was that this would be cheaply made but it actually left very sturdy and well made. It functions exactly as you'd expect, but be aware that it tethers to a Wii Remote, that may be self explanatory to seasoned Nintendo-ers but if you've not played with a Wii in years and years as I hadn't at the time of purchase then it's worth keeping in mind.If you're still rocking a Wii U (if you're not you really should be, there's so much you can do with them these days) then you won't regret picking up one of these.
