Exide XMC-31 MEGACYCLE AGM-200 Sealed Maintenance Free (AGM) Marine Battery

This is a monster of a marine deep cycle Battery! It weighs about 75 pounds and takes an extra large battery case but it performs like a workhorse running my 12000 pound recovery winch on the back of my truck. Others have commented on receiving an older battery.... I got mine in May and the manufacturing date was April so I've got no concerns in that regard.Recharge time is fast.My UPS man wasn't thrilled and had to use his hand truck to rollroll it up to my door so I gave him a cold bottle of water and thanked him profusely. Haha.

Its 2025 and the battery is still working albeit light duty. Use for a crashcart/Jumpstart for years. Never fails. Use a tickle charger.

This was my second attempt on this battery. The first battery arrived with both battery terminals pushed into the battery itself. Now the second battery arrived with no DATE CODE. My battery charger said it was charging up OK - but to my surprise - guess what - it lasted for 20 minutes after a 6 hour charge off of a 10 amp 12V charger which then went on Tickler charge for 3 months - never used it until now in April - it was on Tickler charge to keep it charged up in storage until I needed it and I was left in the dark in 20 minutes. Others are having this same problem. Some joker is selling bad batteries thru Amazon - look out!

perfect for my pontoon, but short life span

Battery came fully charged at 12.9 volts. Unfortunately the battery was manufactured in May of 2015 and was shipped to me in late June 2016. A battery over a year old is not a new battery and even if it was well maintained there is no way it will deliver its full useful life to you. The sticker on top indicates the ship date, but a small sticker on the side clearly shows the true manufacturing date. Amazon did refund my money, A+ to their customer service team. Just something to consider when looking at price vs value.

A few comments...1) You really should have a serious battery charger for this type of battery. I'm using an SS-15A1-OB 15A/12V charger/maintainer on it. However, if you do not need to do anything but maintain it, the SEM-1562 charger will work if you are only planning on maintaining the battery with it; the XMC-31 battery requires a serious charging source.2) It's important to get a version of this battery that is relatively new. If you are purchasing multiple batteries, you want them manufactured at the same time (there is a label on the left side of this battery that tells you the month and year).3) I found that the battery is about two years old and I got it when it was already 6 mos old. I then noted that at about 18 months it only had 75Ah of capacity (I have an AMP/HOUR tester). So that means the battery was about 25% degraded, which was concerning, as it had never been completely discharged and was on a battery maintainer.4) Amazon warranties these batteries, but there is no fast turn around time. It appears they have a contract with Exide, and if you have the proper test equipment... you'll get the battery replaced as long as it's still in warranty, hasn't been abused, and you have the right test equipment.I purchased this battery to be part of a solar system for running a Phillips Respironics 550p BiPAP SV unit when the power goes out. This battery is a monster, and can run the CPAP equipment WITH the heater for several days.

So far, so good! It's been in for a few months and hit sub-zero temps a few times. So far, the truck starts better than it did with the stock battery, and has no hesitation turning over for starting purposes. We've only hit -15 so far, but I'm pleased. Plus, it has plenty of capacity to run the winch, which pulls 900 amps at full load. It's a huge improvement over stock!

Looked around internet and locally for GEL type batteries for my 2001 Carver 406 motor yacht and the best deal was on Amazon. The batteries I selected have comparable specs to the very expensive batteries and have better specs than most in this group 31 size range. The delivery time from Amazon was very acceptable and arrived in very sturdy shipping packaging.I hope to get at least 5-8 years of service but time will tell.
