Wow so THAT'S an impact driver!!!!
My main cordless drill (8v) for the last few years did the job but when I started doing some larger wood projects around the house my old drill just couldn't cut it. I have spent hours online and on Amazon looking at countless other drills/drivers and saw these finally. What a great price for the two drill/driver, 2 batteries, charger and case! I am very impressed with the power that both of these have. I've never had the pleasure of using an impact driver but WOW what a difference! This puppy drives deck screws into treated wood like a knife through jell-o. The drill also has great power and many settings to adjust for whatever drilling ect needs you have. The batteries are pretty decent too and lasted longer than I need them too. The fast charger does indeed charge them in about 30-40 min. What is great is that you probably won't be using both of them at the same time so if you run out of juice you can just slap in the other interchangeable battery and keep truckin'. The case is even pretty tough feeling as well. Overall I am pleased as a peach with this entire combo set. Just a pleasure to use! Also the led lights on both are a great help and angled so that it doesn't cast a shadow on what you're working on. Awesome!

Charger works fine with a cheap ebay 200W transformer
I am in Australia so no warranty and the 240 volt problem. Charger works fine with a cheap ebay 200W transformer, about $25. Hitachi tools are good quality and while this kit isn't the latest and greatest it works really well.I would not recommend it for a professional carpenter doing frames all day, but for light trade use (say electrician) or as a high end home handyman kit it is really good. It will probably last me a lifetime.Impact driver is probably not quite strong enough to tighten or take off wheel nuts but it nips them up enough to drop the car off jack and finish with a breaker bar.Update. I just finished rebuilding my steel roof. In order to fit insulation I had to lift and replace all the steel sheets. The impact driver was fantastic and the drill did all I asked of it.

I keep being very satisfied with Hitachi tool products
I keep being very satisfied with Hitachi tool products. I already own 7 Hitachi air nailers, so it was a no brainer to purchase the cordless drill and impact driver. Dependable service for 2 years from the first set...until the trigger on the drill got dirt in it and the variable speed action declined to function. It just jolted on full speed. (yes I cleaned the trigger switch, yes the variable speed oddly returned). I bought this second set for my cabinet shop, to leave my 3AH set for the field. (the batteries are huge and heavy, but last for hours at a charge). This set has the 24watthour batteries that are half the size or smaller. They are great in my shop. I expect the tools to outlast the batteries by years.I highly recommend them.I would like to bring up the packaging. I appreciate Hitachi's effort to protect the tools during storage and shipment. And there is too much packaging. I realize that is up to Hitachi to deal with, but this is my forum for feedback:)Waxed paper bags and a molded paper tray and just one box ( NOT 3 ) would be just fine.Save some money and pay your engineers and makers a bonus for designing and building great tools - change your packaging.Their light weight and nicely ergonomic hand grips

... the driver are both incredible tools that i both love and enjoy using
The drill and the driver are both incredible tools that i both love and enjoy using. The drill is so well balanced that it makes me forget about my makita stuff lol. The drill has good power (not the most powerful drill but great for the price) it has hitachi's legendary comfort feel in the hand and the coolest part is i feel so good using the trigger and get so much response back from it. I dont think it has that new optical switch that hitachi uses in some of the newer tools but id be hard pressed to know the difference if it doesnt. The impact is a great tool as well. It works like an impact should, has a good balance, and has that comfort feel you love about hitachi. There arent any frills with the impact so what you see and read is literally what you get.Now on to the issues:The drill is great but no product comes without its faults. The chuck is as straight as true as they come but unfortunately it doesn't have a very satisfying click when you secure the bit in place, feels almost like plastic rubbing plastic. Even ryobi has the crappy yet you know its metal inside chuck that will secure the bits with confidence. This chuck is good but with that plastic rubbing plastic feeling idk how long it will last. The impact is good but its underpowered for an impact, i have makita 12v tools and my 12v makita is almost as powerful as this thing. which is kind of a let down. Both tools share one annoyance that i have only recently learned is a bigger deal than you would have thought. They have the lights and the lights are in a place that lights up your area well but the only come on when the tool is used and they dont stay on. This flat out sucks.all the things i have listed are not worthy of taking off any stars they are good tools and are welcomed to my collection but the reason i took off a star was because the charger that comes with the set died, and when i say died i mean i lightly dropped it on the work bench once (maybe a 8 or 10 inch drop with a thud) and that was all it took to break this thing. Now it pretends to charge and will light up but the battery stays dead.. Very disappointing but i already had another charger on the way so its not a huge deal, the charger this came with is a SLOW SLOW charger but got the job done when it worked. These hitachi tools i know are on the affordable spectrum but are great none the less. Just missing some small pro features but otherwise great tools none the less.

Excellent quality. Fabulous power. Great package at an excellent price!
So far i think this the best $150 I've spent! The drill and driver combo are awesome. The drill has an amazing amount of power,Madame for the driver. I drilled ½ " holes through a bunch of 6x6" treated lumber without a problem. I'm sure the batteries will wear down eventually , but this is the first time I've been able to do some real work with some battery operated tools that rival the power of 110 volt plugins. The carry bag is also a nice touch keeping everything together.
