Great Tone, Nice Lows, Smooth Playability, Excellent Design! Aboslutely Love this Bass!
This is my first 5-String Bass. I originally thought that learning the Low B String would be a challenge and I've had a few peers who've said that they ended up tuning their 5-string to EADGB instead of the original tuning BEADG so it doesn't throw them off. My purpose in grabbing the 5-string was to stay in the lower register when playing Eb, D, C#, and C in certain songs. This thing plays smoothly all over the neck and has excellent tone from high notes all the way down to low C and B. The fanned frets seemingly would make stretching out playing harmonics and octaves a challenge. To the contrary, it is actually quite easy and sounds amazing! If you are thinking of buying your first 5-string or your first bass in general. This is hands down an excellent choice! I have played guitar and bass over 26 years and absolutely love the Ibanez SMRS805.

you Will only be sad if you don’t buy it I promise
EVERYONE SAYS “that is the best sounding bass, I have EVER HEARD.” When I put it through my compressor with headphones on, I was blown away EVEN MORE. Like how is that even possible? And when the unusual fretting was a thing I was like, “I’ll get used to it.” But when I started playing, I was like,”WHY ARENT ALL GUITARS LIKE THIS?!” (I Play a 7-string as well) so you KNOW which one I’m gonna get next as soon as possible.....if you don’t, then stay tuned (bwahahahahaaaa-with one eyebrow raised)
