Probably the best and most reliable DVD/ BluRay viewer
A friend gave me a Blu-Ray drive and I didn't have a viewer that would handle that format. I have used a PowerDVD12 that came with my old laptop and was very satisfied with it for DVDs. PowerDVD19 is an excellent program and has worked with every DVD/Blu-Ray disk that I have tried with it. Nice interface and lots of options. I was surprised how good Blu-Ray video looks on a 15 inch laptop screen. The audio is excellent and handles most of the newer formats (according to the speakers, you may have to use earphones to tell how good it is). Check that your CPU and video processing hardware meet the requirements for optimum Blu-Ray performance. The program also works with VR videos and has some interesting options when used with home theater equipment, steaming video, etc. A bit pricey but worth it for the performance. Note that PowerDVD19 has been released and has some new features that I probably don't need so I'm happy with the 18 version for now.

For My Purposes, KODI (Free) is much better.
Power DVD 18 Ultra:Like so many other things; more hype than performance. Actually had KODI running for my library and was damned happy with a few exceptions. My friends commented that they had heard how great this was. A reviewer on a PC build site sang the praises of this software for the PC I built, I gave it a shot. Not happy with the results.Doesn't seem to be able to consistently handle Digital TV shows with multiple seasons. Seems to have given up trying after it began loading my library of old TV series. The Data base it uses is VERY limited for movie and TV information.I don't use it for most of its touted gee-wiz purposes. Have no use for BlueRay, nor 3D. I just want a decent library manager. This falls far short of KODI for my purposes. I really dislike all of the calls to buy more of their items. Really hate giving my e-mail addy to register. How is it Functionally? Several times the software has gotten stuck in loops, opening multiple iterations of the same video and using up all of my PCs resources. Nope, I'm back to using KODI.

WORKS GREAT WITH 3-D
I have had Cyberlink 12 for many years and it was okay but needed an upgrade so I decided on buying Power DVD 18 ultra and very pleased. When I installed the CD it started working and playing my 3-D Bluray and AVCHD 3-D DVD's immediately. It's easy to change to Side By Side 3-D and Over/Under 3-D.I was able to install it in all of my 5 laptops which are 3-D.However 2 of my older 3-D laptops Toshiba and Acer had problems recognizing my DVD drive in my computer but did play all of my 3-D files.Maybe later I will have an update but for now I cannot complain and give it a 5 star rating.

BEST PRODUCT FOR VIEWING A MOVIE BLUE RAY OR DVD OR HARD DRIVE!
This PowerDVD 18 software package has features that are great. You can play a blue ray disk if you have a monitor and video card that support it. You must have a HDMI port on your video card that goes to a HDMI port on your monitor. The regular DVD disks only require a VGA to VGA connection as well as movie's saved on hard drives. This software also has a feature that will take a square framed old movie and expand it to a letter box. It will also display all the movies in a directory as separate icons for selection.

Very Good - except price
No more compatitor. I meat the powerDVD 20 years ago. At that time, it was bundle program. I broght DVDROM, and got PowerDVD.Very various and powerful function. I could not read manual yet. it over 200 pages. basic performance and function.Anyway, I delet 1 star. because of price. I think discouted price (about 60$) should be a real price.

Poor performance on business class machine.
On my Windows 7 PC which is a medium power medium cpu speed high memory Dell business level box with a add on video card, and Blu-ray dvd drive, the playback has lots of picture quality LOSS, bad pixelation and jerkiness, some issues with sound loss during playback. Tv control option requires using the onscreen remote which is not very intuitive or easy to use. Constantly pesters me to upgrade to newer version at a fairly high cost. Why would I even consider buying the newer version when the previous version is so bad. My experience is “newer” versions only add a few more bells and whistles that add even more overhead and just makes things worse. The bad performance implies this product requires a very powerful PC. This may be the “premier” product of it’s purpose, but to be honest I am rather disappointed in the performance.

Pausing makes the software immobile, otherwise great product.
The reason why the blu-ray software player is only three stars comes down to the ability of the software to cope with pausing whilst in full screen mode. Essentially it won't restart after pausing until you go from full screen into small window mode. Otherwise I would have no complaints and it would get the full 5 stars.

I am sad because I failed to play 4K UHD movie disc on my computer with this software.
The first feature about this Ultra version is “Play 4K UHD blue ray movie on your computer.” But, NOT every computer can do this!!! I just bought a 50” 4K smart TV, I upgraded my video card to RX570, and later upgraded again to RX580. Because cyberlink website has this line “RX580 for 4K @60HZ”. But I still failed to play my 4K movie disc. The reason I realize now is HDCP2.2. Both video card and display should meet this requirement in order to play 4K movies blue ray disc. I checked whole Canada Computers, they don’t have a single video card support HDCP2.2, and even I got one supported video card, how can I switch my new 50” tv to a HDCP 2.2 supported TV? And only few 4K monitors support HDCP2.2 (And I don’t think any TV will do that neither). So, Cyberlink, you should warn customers who want to buy this Ultra version for play 4K movie disc, there are several (very hard) conditions to play 4K UHD blue ray movies. Customers should only buy your Pro version for play blue ray disc on the computer, but considering your prize, WinDVD will be put on the table. I am very disappointed right now. Maybe that’s my fault that I didn’t check all details before purchasing.
