Best filament at this price point.
Best filament at this price pointDoes not clog or string much. Much better than stock PLA. Looks great once print is finished, awesome matte look and feel. Okay for functional prints, because PETG would be better as it is stronger.

Excellent PLA Filament for Smooth, Reliable Printing
This 1kg PLA spool has been a great addition to my 3D printing supplies. The filament loads easily, feeds without tangling, and maintains a consistent diameter, which results in accurate and dependable prints. I’ve used it for both small, intricate models and larger projects, and the performance has been consistently excellent.Print quality is sharp and clean, with strong adhesion and minimal issues like stringing or warping. Even on long print jobs, the results stayed smooth and professional-looking. The spool arrived vacuum-sealed with desiccant, so it was perfectly dry and ready to use right out of the package.I also appreciate the full kilogram size, which provides plenty of material for big projects while offering better value than buying smaller spools. The quality rivals more expensive brands I’ve tried, making it a smart and economical choice.Overall, this PLA is dependable, easy to work with, and a great value. I’ll definitely be keeping it stocked for future prints.

Defective roll - but happy ending.
Edit: 4/16/25 - I have to hand it to Elegoo support, they reached out to me on their own (I didn't message them) and offered to send me a replacement spool at no cost to me. I agreed and the new Matte black spool came. Same printer, same settings, and even the same print file in my Octoprint - and let me tell you it was way different this time - it worked. The matte black is lovely and does a great job at hiding the layer lines and making it look very high end/polished.Thank you Elegoo for giving me a chance to try your products again!First time purchasing Elegoo plastic filament. I have had lots of success with their resins for SLA printing, so they were a trustworthy brand. I needed some matte black PLA for some prints where I was trying to minimize the print line visibility without the need for sanding.I have no idea if I had a defective roll, but no matter what I did, I could not get the black matte PLA to melt. I started at the lower end of the temp on the roll (190) and was not able to get anything to come out. I upped it in 5-degree increments until I was at the high end of the temp showed on the roll. I went 10 degrees past that and stopped because I did not want to damage my hot-end.I automatically assumed I had some kind of hardware issue. Maybe my hot end was clogged or the thermistor in my Ender 5 Pro died. I could tell the stepper motor was advancing the filament because I could see the gears turning, but it was just grinding away the plastic, as it couldn't advance the filament because it would not melt.I swapped the hot ends (.4), swapped out the bowden tubing going into the hot end, and checked all sorts of things. After spending hours, I could not get this filament to MELT.Eventually, I swapped it out with another PLA and it had no issues. Swapped it back to the Elegoo matte PLA and couldn't print because it would not melt. This was my first time printing matte PLA, so I thought maybe this stuff is just extremely exotic and hard to print? I have no trouble printing ABS, but maybe this stuff is more hardcore? So, I did some searching and that was not the case. It should just print like any other PLA.I had ordered two rolls - so I opened the other roll, hoping maybe the first roll had some defect and the second roll would not print either. I ended up throwing both away.I purchased a matte black SUNLU roll, half expecting it to also not melt but it had no problems. This has made me nervous to buy Elegoo filament, possibly due to quality control issues. I was looking to buy transparent filament and they have the best price, but I can't bring myself to buy it. I already threw away $30 worth of filament. I don't want to throw away another $17. I have no problems recommending their resins, but I would be worried about buying filament again.

Worked really well on a Prusa XL high flow project!
I've run this matte black PLA filament more or less non-stop on my XL for the last two days printing at .032mm layers with a 0.6mm nozzle. Each run is about 8 hours and I've had no issues except some small lifting at the 90 degree corners, which was corrected by adding a makeshift draft shield around the printer after the first run. A brim might have worked as well, but that would require a few minutes of additional post-printing cleanup. I'm running 200c and the color is very nice and truly a nice matte finish. Happy enough with the results I'll be ordering a 4 pack of the matte white today.

Too Brittle; 2 Batches
7/16/2025 Correction: upon extruder parts replacement, it seems my machine was at fault. After replacing a gear, the remainder of the filament has been printing as expected. The company reached out to me offering a full refund, showing their integrity to right wrongs. Why did you pick this product vs others?:I bought two in total. While I like the matte black color (compared to SunLu, it is blacker) and cardboard filament roll - the filament is low quality. On my first roll, it clogged my extruder once. Total understandable, happens every now and then.On my second roll, it clogged my extruder once and snapped within my hot end. It seems there is an issue with the quality control. As much as I want to continue using their rolls, I just cant. It eats too much time to unclog.

Really Great Filament
ELEGOO filament is fantastic and works just how you’d want it to. The spooling is really nicely done and unwinds cleanly, the packaging is always top notch and the airtight bags are always sealed well (more then I can say for sunlu filament) I had a little issue with stringing on the grey but all the other colors are printing like a dream, especially the black which I’ve been using for all my multi board panels. Definitely the price for what you’re getting. I’ll continue to purchase this brand!
