Great trainer. Just buy it.
Just get it. If you're on the fence, this is your sign to come on over! You won't regret it.So far, I've improved my trigger discipline, reset speed, target acquisition, and I've been clearing my house setting up USPSA targets around.Among all the good exercises to do, honestly, I've loved that last one I mentioned most. I'll have wife (or my buddy when we're at work - he's better at it than her) set the targets in random spots, then I'll go through, acquire and put shots on target. Let ISIS come up in here... I'm basically John Wick now.

Amazing for my AR
Very easy to use. Had to change it up, but once I did, it was good to go. Loaded up the software since I have the other Mantis system for pistols. Love not having to reset after every shot. It's amazing and I can use my existing targets for practice.

Great Product, but disgustingly OVERPRICED
The purpose of this Product is a 10/10. It’s an incredibly useful tool and has a purpose. That said I returned for several reasons as it’s disgustingly overpriced like most gun related things. I am sick of how overpriced things are these days and 50% of the blame is on Consumers for paying it. I fully understand needing to make a profit, but it should be illegal to up charge more than double of the cost. This thing is likely up charged anywhere from 175% to 475%. Need more competition and regulation.Pros:- Easy installation- Easy to adjust- PurposeCons:- PRICE- Only useable in low light- Requires a poorly designed App only for Apple and Android that requires A MONTHLY Subscription!- Charging: Uses a Micro-USB in 2024 instead of a Type-C and takes like 10+ hours to fully charge. How to Improve- For the insane currently asked Price it would be nice if the part that goes where the BCG goes had some kind of system inside that mimicked kickback.- Might be cool to add something that makes gunshot noises when trigger is pulled.- Laser needs to be way brighter so it can be used any time of the daySOFTWARE- Software should be included with every purchase by including a subscription key tied to the serial number.- Needs a complete overhaul along with a Windows Application that can use external webcams because trying to use a phone camera to capture a target is near impossible as a deep breathe messes it up.I have an iPhone 16 Pro and even used a Tripod and it was miserable

Myself as an infantry Marine highly approves
AMAZING and accessible practice tool. If you want to get better at any level, this will give you noticeable results FAST. Now I can shoot every day and not spend hundreds of dollars (range time is still advisable to implement the the practice meaningfully). If you want practice, and can afford this, no question, get it. For me $400a month is maintaining skills, maybe once a week at the range. But now I can grow skills and it saves me tones of money

Solid Training Tool, but Comes with Frustrations
The Mantis BlackbeardX works as advertised—installation is simple, tracking is accurate, and it’s a useful tool for dry-fire training. However, there are several drawbacks that hold it back from being a truly great product. If you purchase the package that includes the BlackbeardX and Smart Targets, you’d expect seamless integration, but instead, you need two separate apps to get full functionality—and frustratingly, you can’t use them together. Adjusting elevation and windage can be precise, but the adjustments feel loose or janky, which can make fine-tuning frustrating. The micro-USB charging port is an outdated choice in a world of USB-C, and target tracking can be temperamental, affecting consistency in drills. The biggest disappointment? Microtransactions. After spending over $300, it’s frustrating to see certain features locked behind a paywall. This is the kind of practice I expect from shady gaming companies, not the firearm training industry. To make things worse, Amazon’s pricing for this system is noticeably inflated compared to Mantis’ own website. If you’re considering purchasing, it’s worth checking their official site for better deals.Additionally, the battery takes a long time to charge, which isn’t ideal for quick training sessions. While its longevity is supposed to be solid, the slow charge time could be a nuisance. At this price point, I expected a more seamless experience without extra costs. While the core functionality is solid, I’m still on the fence about whether it’s truly worth the money.
