I love that this is an 100% pure and unrefined oil.
I was pleased to try this 'GoHoRaw Batana Oil for Hair Growth,100% Pure Batana Oil Organic Dr. Sebi from Honduras, Rich in Vitamin E, Increases Shine, Scalp and Hair Care for Women & Men, Prevent Hair Loss(120g)'.You get a 120 gram tub, within a card presentation box, with information printed. Under the twist off lid is a security seal, that you remove. The oil inside is semi-liquid and I stir it before use each time. It has got a wonderful smell - a bit like a coffee biscuit. It suggests that a patch test is carried out before using. This I did and even though I have very sensitive skin, I did not get an adverse reaction. I haven't been leaving on overnight, however I am using it as a pre-shampoo treatment. I find that, although a natural oil, that it washes out nicely and easily from my hair leaving it in a smoother condition than it was. I am hoping this will carry on improving my hair.I love that this is an 100% pure and unrefined oil. I would think that it contains more of the Omega's and vitamins than if it has been refined. I don't use a generous amount each time and I this 120 grams should last a fair while for me. The current price of £13.99 is fine, in my opinion, for this brilliant hair aid.

For skin as well as hair. Odd smell. No nasties, no additives, organic, cold-pressed. Addictive!
I have been using Batana oil for a while now, and I get to like it more and more. I am glad this seller, Go Ho, explains that Batana is not strictly speaking an oil, nor, as described by some sellers, a cream or a gel. I have not tried it on my hair, but I do enjoy using it to massage my legs and feet, and to salve and soften problem areas of hard, scaly or scabby skin. This "ointment" is quite stiff, though it readily dissolves into a heavy oil when in contact with my skin. I imagine it will become even stiffer in colder weather. However, if that becomes a problem, it should be easy enough to soften it by standing it in hot water or placing it (carefully) over an incense burner. If my primary aim was to apply Batana to my hair, I would use the runny version sold in dropper bottles. I have tried to find out what difference in processing leads to the thick ointment in tubs (as here) versus the thin oil in bottles, but so far no-one has enlightened me. Googling, I see that the thicker Batana we have here can also be called a "butter" but there is no further explanation. It is recommended to choose Batana that is organic and cold-pressed, brown in colour (not green!) It is not clear whether it should give off a strong smell (which some sellers optimistically try to describe as of coffee or chocolate). I seem to have got used to the strange scent, and hardly notice it, but my sense of smell is not acute. However, should you be about to go out on a hot date, perhaps you should skip the Batana treatment. Finally, I do rather regret the hyped-up claims as to the miracles Batana can supposedly work on your hair. All the sellers do it. Imo Batana is not exactly snake oil, but exaggerated marketing claims make it sound not far off. Buyer beware!

Seems excellent quality product, sourced in Honduras and processed in China. No eco certification
Raw, unfiltered, unprocessed, cold pressed pure batana oil which should have all the benefits of the antioxidants and nutrients. This is a brown oil that is slightly solid at room temperature. I love the sweet coffee-like smell, not as strong as coffee and very pleasant. It melts immediately on warm skin and is quite rich. I have extremely dry skin and it takes a while to soak in.I'm using it for skin and for conditioning the frizzy sections of my hair. To see benefits would take months of regular use but it does feel deeply moisturising.I'm conflicted about the batana oil craze given that it comes from a Honduran palm tree and I've travelled in previously beautiful parts of the world like Borneo where demand for palm oil has destroyed the natural wildlife habitat and covered the land in palm trees as far as the eye can see. I found a report from the US Agency for International Development that said one of the unsustainable activities that causes deforestation in Honduras is for conversion to palm oil cultivation and that the wholesale buyers of batana oil have not participated in any FSC agreements (Forest Stewardship Council certification) that would help ensure the oil is being grown in a sustainable way.For this reason, I won't be buying more unless it has FSC certification or similar independent eco credentials. There are so many great products for hair and skin out there and no single one produces miracles so I'd rather not feel my vanity is causing deforestation as well as not benefitting indigenous populations.
